I just fininished installing the P5 bumper and headlights on my 02 lx
i had found a thread to wire the headlights, but they used the foglights to run the low beams... which isn't correct because u cannot run your low beams with ure fog lights off, soo i figured out how to wire them correctly.
The stock sedan headlights has a harness with three wires
passenger side
Common-Blue/red
Lowbeam-red with black stripe
Highbeam-red with green stripe
Driver side
Common-solid read
Lowbeam- red with black stripe
Highbeam-red with blue stripe
First disconnect the battery
Cut the wires behind both the driver and passenger side plug (cut as close as possible to the plug)
Make sure you have the low beam "plugs" from a P5(although i think you could use the stock sedan and just cut the low beam wire, but i never tried that) with an inch or two of wire and the high beam "plugs" with a couple of inches or wire, the longer the easier it is to work with
i didn't remember which light plug came from which side, but that will not matter as it completes a circuit
Splicing the passenger side lights
take the common wire coming from the sedans harness(red with blue stripe) and soder that wire to a wire from each the high beam and low beam which wire should not matter but for me i used the red with green stripe from the high beam, and red with white from the low beam
now your high beam and low beam have are connected to the common from the cars harness
Now for the high beam(9005) the red with green stripe wire is what turns the light on and off. connect that, using your choice of connecter or soder, to the remaining wire for the highbeam which in my case was solid red.
Now the low beam(h7) the red with black stripe is what turns the light on and off. connect that to the remaining wire for the low beam harnnes, which happend to be solid red as well.
Driver side
the common wire on the driver side is solid red, connect that to one wire from each the high and low beam, for me i used that red with green stipe from the high beam, and red with blue stripe for the low beam.
now you should have a red with green and a red with white stripe remaing from your harness
the red with green stripe is for the high beam, connect that to the remainng wire from the 9005 harness, my case was red with blue
the read with white stripe is for the low beam, connect that to the remaining wire which in my case was the red/black stripe.
Turn signals you can use the same plug from the sedan headlights
Side markers
this is where it is extremely nice to have a wrecked p5 to pick parts off.
there is a harness that runs from the driverside of the bumper all the way to the passenger side. There are three wires that run in that harness. Blue, black, and green.
The blue wire is for the fog and the green is for the parking lamp and the black is the common
There is a harness on the sedan that has the same black and blue wires but is missing the green that is behind the washer fluid resivoir and behind the inner fender well.
If you are fortunate enough to have the other end of the p5 harness that has all three wires all you have to do is cut the harness on the car, splice the black and blue wires to the black and blue wires from the p5 harness which has three wires. Now to get the signal to the side makrers, cut the green wire on behind the side makers harness and run a wire from it to the remaining green wire that you got from the p5. You do not have to do anything with the black wire from the side maker lamp, just make sure you cover to no water or anything wil come in contact with it.
if you don't have the three wire harness from a p5, the just cut the bumper side of the harness as well and splice all three wires together.
