Hey guys,

I can't pinpoint the exact location, but the rattling is coming from underneath my car; I can hear it thru my shifter boot. Its not very loud and its high frequency. And it seems to be louder when I release the accelerator and just cruise (running lean).

Do you guys have a clue of what it could be?

thanks

*** EDIT ***
I did also install kartboy bushings the same day!

Probably the heat-shield rattling on the exhaust

Stock lol!

I did go for a quote on a custom midpipe and the guy half-removed the stock one so I dont know if something could have moved?

I did check it and it seems to be ok. Youre talking about the one underneath the shifter and going over the resonator?

Try retightening everything and adjust the hangers. It's most likely rattling the heatsheild.

The heat-shield underneath the shifter or the one near the J-Pipe !?

Yes, and I'm quite sure that's the problem. I had the same thing. As Black_Protege_5 said, try retightening everything and adjust the hangers.

The one under the shifter. If the exhaust is not positioned right it can raddle along the sides. Just go underneath and shake the exhaust and you should hear it.

So youre saying that the exhaust rattle that much during cruising that it could hit the heat-shield eventhough there is clearance from it?

Was your rattling sound loud? Mine is not too loud and I can only hear it from the shifter boot!

I do have some already, just not installed yet :)!

the stock exhaust moves a lot. Plus the engine rocks back and forward so there is a lot of force on it and it's possible that it moves enough to hit.

Just got back from the dealer. They say its coming out from the transmission, most specificaly the differential. They are gonna open it next monday to see whats going on. But Im gonna be on foot for like 3 days, they dont have freaking courtesy cars !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, has anybody ever had that kind of problem with their transmission?

Make them give you a rental.

Make them give you a rental.

yep...that is their responsibility. they cannot take your car and leave you with nothing when doing warranty work.

Just checked on Mazda Canada and they dont have to unless you have an extended warranty. It sucks and that dealer sucks though because they are the only one I know that doesnt offer that service.

By the way, do you guys think the noise could be caused by my shifter kartboy bushings? Im just asking because I kinda realized that noise after I installed those, but in an other way, the dealer would have noticed if it would have been those. And the noise is mostly there when Im just cruising, like when there is no constraint on the engine. As soon as I tap the gas it practically goes away, like if everything was tying up again.

Hopefully its that cause Im tired of that freaking noise lol!

Just read a couple of threads on the Kartboy bushings and a lots of people are claiming that they have some kind of high frequency vibration noise whenever they let off the gas while in gear. Thats exactly what I also have.

So now I dont know what to do, but the noise did come right after I installed mine; well I noticed the noise the same night so unless its a big coincidence lol!

Do you guys who have the kartboy bushings also have that high pitch noise?

thanks
