I know the endlinks in the Proteges are crap. Are the bolts supposed to spin freely inside the endlink? If not, I think I broke mine.

I think so. To stop the spinning you need to use a hex key on the end of the bolt and an allen wrench to get the damn things off. I couldnt and just broke mine off, much easier and more fun.
Wonder why its so much fun being destructive.

allen key not hex key but yes you do need hold the inside while you turn it. I ended up having to cut mine off as well as a lot of other people. Simple job but those things can be a bi#ch to get off.

Impact wrench has enough oommff to torque them off!

I don't know why ppl have so many problems. I can take mine of with just a rachet.

u'll need an open end wrench and an allen key. allen key is to keep it from spinning like u said when u turn the wrench.

(mswerd) I have removed many of these end links before and have had no real problems.

That may all have to do on where you live and the elements your car sees on a daily basis. I agree a car from cali or somewhere may not have an issue. I live in Vancouver not a lot of snow, just a lot of rain.
