Today marks the end of an era. I had to remove my custom Zoom Zoom front plate which I designed in 1991 for my first Mazda. I had it on my MSP for 2 years and 10 months before getting pulled over on 8/3/2006. At least the officer was nice and only gave me a warning.

Yeah DE requires no front plate. The one thing that irritated me about buying the car from VA was that the previous owner tapped the front bumper and now I have to fix it. I dont think Ive seen a car that looks good with a front plate (Euro plates dont count...) so Im pretty happy I dont need one.

I know our car isnt european, but I got a plate from germanplates.com and I got pulled over for my tint a few weeks ago, got a warning, but he didnt even say take it off. He just used it as an excuse to check and see if I had been drinking. Anyways he commented on the plate and said he didnt have a problem with it because I got the correct #'s that matched the back. Pretty cool cop. (wtf huh)

I tried it for a while in my 240. I lasted a few months with no problems, and then I got pulled over twice in a week and got a warning and then a repair order. It's not worth the hastle.

cars look so much cleaner without the front plate...its just "there" & doesnt really serve too much of a purpose b/c think about it. If your flying towards a cop chances are by the time he catches you, your already past him where hes reading your back plate, and front plate is pointless in that scenorio. Secondly even if the cops infront of you in the same direction of travel he isnt reading shit through his mirrors....just my 2 cents lol

i dont understand it...minnesota requires front plates too but is it legal if there is no mounting area for the car? cause i've never seen a vette or camaro with front plates..

Front plates are bullshit. Cops ALWAYS pull people over from the back. Its useless to have a front plate. I got pulled over by an Ohio State Patrol and he gave me a ticket for no front plate. What pissed me off was that i had it in my windsheild and he told me it was still illegal it had to be on the front of the car. When i get my MSP (hopefully in a few days) i am not putting a front plate on there. They look really bad.

Cops wont pull muscle cars over for stupid shit like that. Us import guys are descriminated against.

From what I understand, states now want front plates for photo radar use. If TN starts requiring it, I'll fight them like hell. If they win, I'll move across the border into GA.

Same thing with other cars, like Grand Prix's. I think they get left alone because those cars don't rarely came with the front plates installed from the dealerships, so cops don't bother, even in states like CA, where front plates are required.

From what I've heard(could be wrong), a front plate is required only if there is a provision for one. Like pre-drilled holes for example. I think it all comes down to the mood of the revenue monkey that pulls you over. And if you think imports, modded or not, grab police attention, try driving a thrashed looking '69 bug. I used to get pulled over all the time, never got a ticket, and the reasons they gave for pulling me over were pathetic at best. And if they didn't pull me over, they would either stare at me until I was out of sight, or they would follow me for a while. Good times!

In Texas your are suppose to have one but I got pulled over by a couple of state troopers and they let me go on it. Heck, I was speeding, wrong address on my license, and no front plate. No warning just a friendly, be carefull and have a nice day.
It was after 5pm, I was in business clothes, my 13 yr old was in the car, and they had been pulling over dumbass rednecks in giant ass trucks all day on the little, winding, two lane, country road I live off of.
It was like a couple of fishermen at the end of the day and they had allready caught their fill. They let the little one get away,

Of course I am a funny guy and I made them laugh a few times so I guess that didn't hurt either :)
I did tell him I did not want to drill holes in my car.

No front plate required in Alberta. And even if itwas, I would NEVER run one. I don't care how many tickets.
