View Full Version : Does the Sport model come with HID/Xenon?
I'm very close to purchasing an MS6, I went for a test drive today and fell in love. The brochure says that it has Xenon headlights, and the website does. But MANY of the online reviews and articles I'm reading say that the GT package adds Xenon headlights.
Just wanted clarification as I only want the Sport model but HIDs are very important to me.
The only problem on my test drive was that there was a MASSIVE power loss at 4000 rpm. My immediate assumption, and I think I'm correct from the research I've done, is that the idiot dealer probably doesn't have high octane fuel in it. Any insight?

Yes the sport model has the same HID lights as the GT model. I'd also suggest the brake light (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123640184) and the running light (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123641314&highlight=piaa) mods too. Together they will cost you no more than $45 or $50. You are probably right about the dealer using cheap gas for the test drive. I've only had a couple of power loss issues running 93 when the car was stock and those were spread over 5000 miles. Either get the reflash (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123633337) or run 94 and there shouldn't be any more problems. I hope you get the car and good luck with it.
yup, probably Gas. Dealers hardly ever put anything less then 87 in the cars. I can't say I've felt this power loss issue yet....knock on wood.
I went looking for a Sport model. Had no interest in leather and the keyless start gimmick, but I ended up getting the GT for the same price.
Well you guys took too long so I went back to the dealership and looked for myself (butt) But thanks anyways.
It's too bad the stock deck doesn't play MP3 CDs, but I guess a 6 disc changer is equivalent to 1 MP3 CD, lol.
Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for yours Newf? My dealer won't budge on the price at all, yet I keep hearing about people getting them for 2000-3500 off, some people even got them for below invoice.
I'm starting to get pissed at this dealer, the saleswoman knows NOTHING about the car, they won't budge on the price, and they offered me less than half of what my trade-in is worth.

I had the same situation when I bought my P5... so I drove across town and got a good deal...
walk out. in the middle of their offer and don't stop till you hear a better price, or you reach the next dealer

Unfortunately there is only 1 Mazda dealer in my town. I'm just about to send out some e-mails to dealers in the surrounding towns to see if somebody can do better.

I heard that these cars are selling very well in BC....you might be out of luck on getting a deal if that's the case.
