god damn man. $930 a month for insurance? that has to be a misquote...

jadonP5
07-24-2006, 04:38 PM
$11160 a year? try an online progressive quote and see what happens..

Thats really high, but then again it's a turbo car for someone with less than a year with a license...

jadonP5
07-24-2006, 04:42 PM
it's turbo, but it's still only 170ish hp, and that's pretty standard as far as the majority of cars go.

Holy Inflated quotes batman. I'm sure you can do better. Can you get on your parents insurance?

My wife and I both have proteges and we pay 150/mo. for both of us and she's 22 and I'm 23 with 2 tickets ( stupid speed traps!)

Either he misunderstood the quote, or he's done some helluva driving in the year he's had a license

evilmonkeyMSP
07-24-2006, 04:52 PM
would you consider that driving or more along the lines of wrecking?

repeatedly while in a high speed chase - on tv

man thats way too freakin high. when i got my insurance for the mp3 i was told by my agent it wasn't much higher at all than a base protege. and then my msp was barelly higher at all (mainly because of the year) but still....i guess being 17 and im assuming male youre getting a hell of a shaft. get used to it. but for the record im only paying 130ish

jred321
07-24-2006, 05:01 PM
lol, in about a year at that rate you've paid more than your car is worth.

shameless plug: check out travelers.com, i've been told by many people that they've gotten good rates. i haven't priced myself, but it's worth looking at

Well i pay 330 thru progessive i just turned 2o and got my licenece at 18 and have a totalled car and a speeding ticket ... and didnt have a car for 6 months... i pay 990 every 3 months but every month i would take that wad of cash and slap your insurance agent with it...

There's no way you'll get a policy by yourself though...that's the reason it's so jacked up. I was quoted upwards of $4k a year on my own policy, but on my rents its less than $2k. Get on with the rents man :-p

yea i live in jersey with like 10 points and i pay 3.5k a yr with geico on my own policy with full coverage. try another company either progressive or geico u can get a quote from either online in a few min.

I am 19. I pay $170 a month for 2 cars. Full coverage on my 03.5 MSP and liability on my 95 camry LE. I am primary on the toyota though.

I have never heard of that...ever. Someone in one of my classes who had THREE DUI's and somehow still had his license was paying 6k-8k a year I think.

ha...who missinformed them? :p

(rofl2) whoooo....... that make me laugh so hard.

Man you just need to say a mazda protege. It's the "speed" bit that tips em off. Then again if you ask me, it's a bit of a misnomer.

In Virginia, three DUI's would have been:
1st DUI on the street
2nd DUI with additional charge of driving with no license
3rd DUI with additional charge of hijacking the prison van
I can't believe that your state is much different.
Don't believe the hype!

Just got license back after 3rd DUI, dropped to a 2nd in court, lost it when I was 21 for points, etc, etc. Overall, just a shitty, stupid driver for many years. Full coverage on the MSP plus liability on the '90 Tempo comes to ~$1773 per year (includes $45 membership fee) a year. I'm paying less this year than I did last year when I lost my license. Same state as 03MSP, FTW!!(2thumbs)
But, then again, I'm quite a bit older than most of you. Of all Agents I have gone through, Farm Bureau has always been the lowest. Not sure if they are all over the country? They find the best deal for me.

are you guys making adjustments inside the policies you're being quoted - like deductibles and limits? or are you just being quoted without asking questions about what all they are including - like rentals, and all?

G-Papi
08-06-2006, 04:45 PM
remember these guys are salesmen first - and they'll sell you oceanfront property in Arizona if you'll pay for it.

My driving record is ugly! DUI, like 6 bad speeding tickets and 2 license suspensions, lol. One from the DUI and another from point accumulation. DUI was discretionary, I was under the legal limit, but I was going about 100 mph so they gave me DUI anyway. I pay less than 150 a month.
