New here, and new to this whole Mazda thing ;) My car came with an A/F gauge and then the PSI, but I have no idea what brand (if any) or type it is, or how to set it on High and Low. You push the little button and it says Hi then Low, and keeps repeating that until you push it again. I'm really just learning about all this so would greatly appreciate some help. I've also attached a photo of it just in case someone recognizes it.. Just remember I know nothing but more than willing to learn.. also if anyone can tell me about the A/F ratio and where it is supposed to be and what it's supposed to do..

Looks like just a boost guage, not a boost controller.

Hmm.. so that means that any changes I try to do to it won't matter anyway unless I have a boost controller? Thanks for the help.

correct...you can either get an electronic boost controller, or a manual boost controller, both are effective ways of managing boost-- an electronic boost controller is however, slightly more expensive but much more convenient to use.

When you boost your gauge must be at green (rich)
when in gear and not in gas is not engaged must be red (lean)
otherwise youre having problems

Sorry, (jacked)
What would be considered rich or lean? I have a WB and am running about 10-11 at WOT & full boost(8-9psi). Good, bad, OK?
Kinda back on topic,
Have any pics of the car? How long ago did you get it?

is that monitored via a wideband o2? or a narrorband (eg: Autometer)?
I would not trust a narrorband, but if it's via a wideband then you are more than ok. You are on the safe side.

11 is like dead on target for a safe tune. its rich but we need. that wouldnt go any higher than 13 in boost

Okay.. I'm going to ask this: what is the good and bad of being too rich, or too lean? Which is better to be and how do you keep your car from being either too rich or too lean? I'm a fan of octane boosters although that's probably not a good thing, running really rich I know. Any help is greatly appreciated!

That would be called engine management my friend. There apre plenty of types. It is the general consensus though that the Desatek Unichip is the easiest one to install and comes preprogrammed with a couple good fuel/timing maps for our cars. Many members on this forum are running the MPI Tuner but you have to solder the wires yourself and the tuning must be done by you or an experienced tuner. Others include Haltech, Microtech, AFC.

Possibly late but...
They look to be cyberdyne gauges. As for your high and low they are probably warning levels.
