I wanted to know if anyone knew if the 01-03 6 CD changer fits in the 2000 protege... or if its not worth the trouble... thanks...

how easy would that be... i dont have much electronics experience... but it doesnt sound too dificult, and would that CD changer be able to play MP3 files?

The only proteges that supported MP3 playback were the ones that came with an aftermarket kenwood head unit...The MP3 (duh!) and the MSP. All standard Proteges including Protege5s, whether they had 6-disc changers or not, did not support MP3 playback.

I don't know what the back of the 2000 deck looks like. If it is the same harness, it will be plug-and-play. If it is a different harness, you will have to buy the reverse-harness for the new deck and a regular harness for your car and match up all the wires. Its not that hard...just like installing any aftermarket deck.
