Does this happen to you?

When driving with my daughter in the back (middle)
seats, if she rolls down her window I get this weird
vibrating noise. It stops if I roll down another window,
so that two windows are open. Any Idea's??

??????

Cheers
Robin

happens to me if i have certain windows down. something to do with the air pressure in the cab

aerodynamics - one window alone cups air, and it must both enter and exit the same opening. It sets up a rhythmic way of alternating entering and exiting air. The rhythm is what you hear.

Two windows changes the dynamics.

Betcha it changes with the speed - and quits when you stop.

Same on all cars, just varies in intensity with changing aerodynamics of various body styles.

Also affected by whether climate control is set to "fresh" or "recycle" the cabin air.

It only happens with the rear windows, It feels like
the rear hatch is vibrating. Would window deflectors
help this out?

Only a trial or wind tunnel would tell

If you have a sunroof, try tilting it open

or like I said, you can try changing the a/c from recycled air to fresh (intake)

Well changing the air intake from recycle to fresh doesn't
help. It still does it. The only solution is to open more than
one window, and learn to live with it. When they make the
vent visors for this microvan I will try them.

Thanks

Microvan?

Well its not a mini-van and it is IMHO too tall
to be classed as a car. So I call it a micro-van.
I suppose you could also call it a Mini-Mini-Van!

You got a point there.

BTW - looked at your photo page(s) - good stuff! You should do some automotive.

The noise is the worst with one back window open. Two back windows open makes it slightly better but still unbearable for my ear sensitive family. But, cracking the sunroof makes it almost disappear. Cracking the front windows works too but you have to do both of them.

I'm ear-sensitive too. It goes kinda Woop - Woop.

Yep - I hear the noise, but my husband (who has ruptured his ear drum twice) and my daughter (multiple infections as a toddler) say they have physical pain from it. Airplanes are a joy with them as well as drives in the mountains.

So - you are getting it it the CX-7 too huh. That car is hot enough to be worth any strange noise ;)
