just like MAM have been promising for months and months now...

i've been in touch with Autotech interiors and they have a central, steering column mounted guage pod that will fit our cars:

I don't know these guys and have never dealt with them, but just found them and wrote them an email to see if they would help fill a sorely needed gap in our community.

these are their prices:

10- 30 buys @ $42 (USD) plus FREE shipping

30 + buys @ $40 plus FREE shipping

this is their site:

it's called a Mazda3 pod, but with some gentle sanding i am told it fits our cars perfectly.

what do you guys think???

As we continue to develop the latest and greatest gauge mount solutions, we need a few good people who would like to do final testing of our products.
We’ll need you to take a few high resolution digital photos for us. In return, you’ll be the very first one to receive a production piece. That’s right, the very first one!
Vehicles will be posted so if you see your ride listed, contact us at sales@autotechinteriors.com (sales@autotechinteriors.com).

That thing looks similar to the guage cup I'm already using; was hoping for something to replace the whole steering column.

RX,
I was too, so I sent them mine for an eval but the said it wouldn't be easy with their tooling, etc. So they sent me this instead.

So are the wires / hose exposed coming out the back of whatever you put in the pod?

Yes,
the wires or whatever hang out the back, but they are not loose.
