ok guys,
i got a ticket for modified aftermarket parts and now i have to get a smog check to pass california's emission test.2 questions.....
1. is there anything I can do to improve my chances on passing the smog test. I know putting oct. 91 is always good. but anything else?
2. is a BOV legal in california?

btw i have 1 cat

thanks guys,

you need a second cat, recerculate your BOV,and remove the boost controller.

other then that(judgeing by your mods list)you will pass.

Remove and rig the stock BPV to your Injen. I've got the same intake, heard that it has a CARB sticker - but I didn't get one in the box. You may have to go as far as put the OEM airbox and piping back on. A BOV is illegal in CA in most situations (IE: did not come with the car). Anything that obviously is aftermarket in regards to the intake or exhaust spells trouble at the inspection. If your car is nice and warmed up, you'll pass with one cat - unless the tech knows your car came with two. Having a bright orange car and rolling 19's will get you noticed, but how did the stop go down? Where you doing anything else illegal? At what point did the officer ask you to pop the hood - and finally: how much is the ticket?

blitz makes a fitting that screws to the front, then recirculate that to the intake.

or if you have a stock BPV still in the car then you can just remove the BOV for smog, but you will need to cap it.

your a bit of on this, aftermarket doesn't mean illegal.for instance, the hard pipes don't need a EO # because it falls under "appendix K" in the SMOG laws, this allows ANY aftermarket intercooler,or intake manifold to be used as long as all stock provisions are maintained.

as far as intake,if you do not have a EO # for it,you can contact INJEN,and they will issue one to you,but you are better off running your stock intake for this.

I hope your being sarcastic.

of course i am. my friend sold his 2200 square foot house in san diego and bought a 5000 square foot house when he moved to indiana.

back on topic.

unless you find a shady smog center, don't mod your engine.

thanks all for the info.
1st i do live in los angeles, but my car is registered in the wonderful state of Georgia b/c i go to school as an out-of- state student and pay out-of-state tuition. (there is a cal state vehicle code that makes it legal for me to have ga plates)
2. I called the number on the back of my ticket and all they are doing is just a smog check. not a visual check.
3. I went to autozone and bought "gaurnteed to pass" engine cleaner and like always putting oct 91 in my car.
4. do I HAVE to remove my bov? do I HAVE to remove my intake?

please don't laugh....
i was applying for a city job at the Glendale police station and i parked in a 1 hour spot. not knowing there was a parking structure where i can park and get validated and tried to move my car, but it didn't start. I had to go back in the police station to take the test so i PUT MY HOOD UP to let AAA or the security know that i have car problems. well, a motorcycle police came by when I was taking the test and when I came out of the room the police officer asked me if that was my car. he said that it looks like there are some things on your car that will effect California emissions test and gave me a ticket for registering my car in California, no windshield wipers and to get a smog check.

you could always get a local exhaust shop to make you a "smog pipe" it would be a little expensive but worth it. By smog pipe I mean to cut a section of you rexhaust, flange both ends, buy 2 cats (don't have to be new) have them welded up but with flanges, you see the point.

not in cali,it's a illegal for a shop to remove,or alter a cat on a car thats less then 6 years old.

I just passed the smog check yesterday with an Injen on the car. The CARB sticker doesn't come in the box, it's on the actual intake. They imputed that number into a computer and it came up. I also passed with an HKS Hi-Power axle-back on too... both of my cats are in place though.

*WARNING* to all 2.0 owners that are NA... "The Injen intake for our cars was only CARB approved from 1999-2002"... so if you drive an '03 like I do they may want you to remove it. My tester knew that 02 and 03 are identical and let me off the hook.

aclick02, you go yet? I saw your car today parked on Chevy Chase on my way to the DMV on Glenoaks. Hit up MOCC bro... come to the meets.
