Need Electrical help

I am going back to installing my rear view mirror. I need a wire that is an accessory wire....ie. is only on when the car is turned on. The instructions I had were wrong. Does anyone know of one? Has anyone tried to take the moonroof buttons/map lights down? Do you know how? I think I could tap into the moonroof power.
