Radio went out AGAIN

Well this is the 3rd time my POS stock Kenwood MSP radio has went out and when i went to the dealer they said my warrenty has ended so they said i would have to buy one........ buy another one that is just going to tear up again ??????

and i remember seeing Protegegarage.com hjaving some type of tv screen molded into the dash for sale, but i can't find it anymore. Has anyone buy or heard of this product. ?

I think i am just going to get a tv cd player thing cause i mean since stock is broke why not buy something nice instead of paying moeny for crap stock.

Did you try resetting the stock unit? If you did and it still doesn't work I would go with an Alpine in dash screen if thats the way your looking to go. IMO Alpine makes the best headunits around.

my shit has gone out like 5+ cant remember times over the past 3yrs. The dlrship tells me that it is becauste i play BURNED cd's. How else can i play MP3 file music. (idiot) so i continue to reset, and reset the settings. I hate it. but i keep doing it, good luck.

Mine went out after I ran my car at the track. Guess the sudden power surge was too much for it? I ended up buying another Liquid Gel Kenwood with colored screen graphics from BestBuy, along with a warranty. I just hate the fact that it doesnt fold away now. But it's still nice. Hell, I haven't even read the manual, it's pretty damn thick compared to the old one.

But yeah, that Kenwood model has LOTS of problems. And they don't make em anymore.

I'm surprised this is your 3rd Kenwood deck... I tossed mine out and never looked back. I've owned three Pioneer decks, all solid and great performing. I never liked the performance, appearance and functionality of the Kenwood deck. It was difficult just doing something simple like programming a radio station into memory.

By resetting it you mean hit the little reset button, I did that. I also discounected the battery and still is messed up.

Does anyone remember or heard of the product im talking about from protegegarage.com ? It is a tv screen that was like molded into a msp bezal ?

join the club.. just brought mine in to a local shop who my buddy knows and they gave me the low down on the deck. He owned one "way back" said he never liked it, the Kenwood Mech's are supposed to be bullet proof but the ribbon cables go like hot cakes on them.

He hasn't called me back with my repair quote but he said Mazda knew what they put in those cars on purpose and Kenwood won't touch the MSP decks because there is a serial number and it claims the deck to Mazda so it's Mazda's problem.

Not worth fixing, if my quote is less then 50 then i will do it otherwise these decks should be packed up and put in your basement if you sell the car.. good to keep imo since it isn't the same as the other Kenwood MP919s.

Well...... I have been reading threads for the last 4 days since I bought my MSP and now.... I have the infamous Radio Problem. I was at 36,025 miles and fortunatly the service writer was cool enough to cover it under warrantee. Said the same thing you all did in this thread. I opens halfway, gets stuck, and doesnt work. Crappy part is, they have to order it so I won't have any music let alone any sound other than driving sound for at least 3days. I'm probably going to upgrade ASAP because I dont feel like replacing HU's over and over again.

Pretty much any double-din unit (alpine, pioneer, kenwood, eclipse, etc) like the dvd and/or navi combos will fit if you take out the old radio and the radio pocket underneath it along with the bar that separates them. But you can look up the link i posted above and fix the kenwood almost permanently.

I've had mine replaced 3 times too! Sucks!!

I would replace mine with alpine, but i hope mine doesn't die again any time soon!!

I recently had my car broken into and the HU wasn't even touched. When the cops were dusting my car, they were all confused asking me where the HU was. Obviously, it won't fool everyone, but it actually worked in my case.

Yeah, and any double din screen would work fine for your setup.

Hey, just so you know, www.crutchfield.com has some sick deals. I just upgraded because I can't stand the stock hu anymore. I bought the Kenwood KDC-MP732 with 2 sets of speakers front/back. I got money off the hu, and then one set of the speakers for free, with free shipping. I would check them up and give up on the stock unit. gl
