I think I know where this is going!
just got back from driving since Friday. Had to go outside province to get this....
Needless to say, I LOVE IT,
but
I HATE STEREO. Bose = crap.
But everything else about the car is amazing.
never fails, after a long trip I'm exhausted but can't sleep. Why does that happen?
Anyways. I got a deal on a trade with a dealer in north Sydney, nova scotia. They gave me top dollar on my car, and I got such a good offer on the new one I couldn't pass it up. So i took off from work early on Friday, caught the ferry out to nova scotia, and grabbed the car on Sat. afternoon, then back on ferry and home. Would have been a really nice drive if we didn't spend most of the time in fog, thunder showers etc, not to mention driving on one of the most dangerous highways on the island at 1am where Moose like to wander so we were crawling most of the way. So I i might have a few kms on the car, but I haven't really "driven" it yet if you know what I mean.
Car handled the trip much better then the msp. So much more quiet, smooth, seats so nice, and I could just leave it in 6th the entire way. Mid range power is nuts in this thing and it's in the right spot in the power band. I don't like having to get up to 5000 rpms to get power, been there done that with my Honda's. I like power to come on at around 2 grand, makes for easier launching for daily driving, and keeps fuel consumption down if you keep revs down. That is what this car is like, power is where you need it, and there is TONS of it.
Car is built like a tank. Not a rattle, feels solid, just quality. I parked next to a new 5 series BMW at the sydney mall and the owner was all over the ms6 and couldn't beleve it was a "mazda". Same thing when I got on the ferry, just people amazed with the car. Made me a proud new Daddy!
Headlights got a good work over in the night, fog etc. HIDS are fun. I kept playing with the height adjustment, quite handy. Nice and bright, far brighter then my msp obviously. I liked how well they lit up the sides of the road so I could watch for any critters. Luckily all I seen was about 15000 frogs. Holy shit, it was an obstacle course of kermies!
But, that stereo. OMFG what a step down from the kenwood. The bose speaker can't take any volume, the sub.....there is one right? because I can't friggin tell if there really is a sub back there. Going to put my 10" back there somehow, hope it changes things a bit. The Speakers don't have any good highs, all mid range, and the sound stage sounds like it's coming out of my front center dash...strange.
I've always wanted a AWD car with about 300hp. Any more would be too much in gas for a daily driver. The WRX was always way to $$$ for what it is around here. I think I have finally found "THE CAR" that I always wanted. Just got to do something with that crap pos stereo.

Congrats man....I see you got the GT too!
I know what you mean about it being built like a tank...that's what I always say. The roads in Quebec are amongst the worst in Canada and I have not heard one rattle.
As for the stereo, I find it alright...but I am moving up from a stock P5 setup.

Congrats Newf!!!!(thumb)
We have the same stereo in our 04 Mazda 6 GT-V6 and you are right it is marginal at best. The new 9 speaker Bose Centerpoint system the CX-7 however is a huge improvement. Really looking forward to September when I get mine :)
Enjoy the car!!
yeah the cx7's stereo looks more promising.
I've got a kenwood wa100 self powered sub from a 2001 Mazda mp3. I've used it in my MSP since I got it. I like it, just enough bass for me. I've got to figure out where to connect it in the MS6. Where's the amp? Hmmmmm...time to hit the audio forum.

congrats! As I recall, you said you knew that you would have to buy one if you test drove it. I guess we see how that went. It looks good in silver too!
yeah, I test drove it....as you can tell I'm weak.

Congrats, I know it's been a long time coming. Awesome new car pick up story. Making me a little nostalgic for Maine where I lived as a kid. Moose, ferries in the fog, etc. I got to take another trip up there, but it's too far to drive the MS6 there. Oh, well one of these days.

congrats. I also sold my MSP for the MS6. 2 things you will notice with the 6 (looks lik eyou got 1 already) The stereo is complete crap compared to the MSP. And I really miss the handling of the MSP, but the power more than makes up for that! Enjoy the 6! Nothing like having luxury AND speed in one car!
yeah, the msp was much easier to toss around. The steering in the ms6 is quite heavy in comparison, but the car sticks to the road quite well.
Sweet, congrats on the new car. I like that color a lot
yea man congrats on the car...i think the stereo sounds pretty damn good...but my last one had at least 1 blown speaker so anything would have been an upgrade...is yours the liquid platnium or that gray titanium?

Congrats and join the club Newf. :)
I never should have gone and test driven one. Now I have it and a I love it.
I also agree about the BOSE, I hate it. Been planning my stereo system and I think it's gonna rock when I finally get it put together. I will be using the BOSE headunit though.

thanks guys.
My car is the platinum silver color, GT. I wanted titanium, prefer titanium, but this is pretty damn close.

Has anyone "dropped" their ms6 yet? I'm wondering if the handling will improve (not that it needs it) when dropped?
I'm also on the verge of buying one. Working with a sales guy now to lease.
Two things that I didn't like was the ride height and the half inch exhaust. lol
i have seen MS6s on cardomain.com that are dropped and they look HOTT. dont know about improved handling tho...

Hey newf wehere you take that picture at? Looks like Port aux Bas.... My familiy is from up there and I miss Newfounland alot. I like your new car. The radio is alright for what I need it for. You going to put anything aftermarket on it besides a stereo system?
car is a lease, it's staying stock. I'll get the auxmod, add a mp3 player, maybe change the speakers but that is it. Car has got everything in it anyways.
Picture is at Burger King, sydney, Nova Scotia which is where I bought the car. We stopped in there to get something quick before getting onto the ferry to return.

I suggest that you get the Audio Link instead of the AuxMod. It's an easy install and is more flexible, unless of course you have the factory Sirius radio and then it simply isn't an option for you.
Also, you will have an extremely hard time changing just the speakers with the BOSE system because of how the system is put together and the way the BOSE amplifier works, if you hooked up aftermarket speakers and managed to get them to work, they would most likely not be an improvement over the Bose.
my biggest concern right now is to get my powered sub (meaning it has it's own amp) working in the back, and get mp3's working.
Everything else can wait.
Killer is, looking at the bose sub in the trunk, I can't tell what wire is what as it has a special harness. I just want to tap into power, on/off, ground, and right/left audio. But nobody seems to know the answer to this yet.
