Hello, I own a 2000 Protege 1.8, five-speed. For the past couple of months, It has been exhibiting problems and I 'd like to see if any of you wise men/women know what is causing it. The symptoms include:

1). Sometimes when I start it, it sputters and dies over and over.

2) Occasionally idles rough then kills -- may or may not restart.

3). CEL sometimes flashes, sometimes stays solid...used scan tool and it said the only code was "multiple cylinder misfire".

4). Currently, the car is parked, will turn over but will not fire.

The items I've recently replaced (none have done any good): spark plugs plug wires...cap and rotor looked fine.

PLEASE HELP ME!!! THX IN ADVANCE.

on thing, this car has distributorless ignition, has no cap and rotor... check the coil packs , they are probly bad, also check for fuel pressure...

Holy fucking multiple posts batman!

I was gonna say spark plugs but it appears you already checked that. Someone else will chime in to help...just be patient.
