Im looking Into purchasing my second car. I at first was very interested in the P5 however, began to love the Mp3's. Now my question is.. are they rare? Like would it be Hard for me to find one around my area? Sorry i am new to Proege's so i do not know much about them at the time so i have been spending a lot of time on here to learn more. Thanks

It'd be a lot easier to tell you if they're rare in your area if you told us where you live.

there were 1500 units made...they are pretty common in the City of Evil, however.

i see them for sale in the general PA area every now and then, but to be honest it will be WAY easier to find a good MSP.

Research the mazdaspeed.... it would likely cost you more since its faster and newer, but it would more than likely be easier to find, due to the fact that its production numbers are around 4,000 vs just 1500 for the mp3.

For MSP it's either an 03 or 03.5, they weren't made in 02. You can check the for sale section here, there are a couple MSP's there.

I have heard conflicting reports...does anyone know exactly how many of the 1500 MP3s that were made were yellow and how many were blue? I purchased my Yellow MP3 in 2002 with just about 10K miles on it. I have had it ever since and I absolutely love it. Everything it stock and perfect the way it is.

If i remember correctly, 1000 were blue and 500 were yellow

^ that was the initial plan, however there was a problem with the yellow paint so less yellow were made and subsequently more blue were made to meet the 1500 number.

So maybe what I heard a while back is accurate. I heard that they made 350 yellow and 1150 blue. When I called Mazda to find out my production code the guy said he had no idea how many of each color were made.

That was the plan, but didn't happen. I am not sure of the magic number exactly as they changed it midway through production.

Sidenote, AznXstazy,
Do you drive a blue mp3 and parkdown near shockoe slip?

I just moved to Richmond and I have seen a blue one parked around Franklin and 14th. Not sure exactly on the road names or exactly location, but have seen one there in a parking lot today and on another day.
