The track, at Dunsfold Park, near Guildford in Surrey, is an old Second World War airbase, and has become the focus of a fierce row locally, with residents of the nearby Dunsfold village enraged by the noisy antics of Jeremy Clarkson and his star test driver, "The Stig".

I don't think the BBC would cancel the show but they would have to find a new track for testing.

vindication

yeah, but then they'd have to set up the track to ressemble the old one or run every car again in the new track

get real. Do you think the only show that makes money for the BBC here in the US will shut down because of a noise complaint? I would think they might just move locations instead of losing millions every year.

F'n dumb.

Um, the BBC is taxpayer funded. I don't think they make much money off of us downloading their show without paying for it.

Also, is there not anywhere in the world you can fun in a car without someone complaining?

It never fails there is always somebody complaining about noise....if somebody took the time and realized the things that are louder than cars that we hear everyday they would quit their bitching...i bet they dont cry when people mow their lawns. We have the same problem with auto-x here there is ONE lady way across the street at one of our sites that constantly complains about the noise created at the auto-x....as a fix we have instated a 95db exhaust noise limit that is strictly enforced and even after the local pd has been out there to verify this the lady continues to complain so i think the cops decided to just ignore her.

so the people complaining moved into houses right near an airport, then complained that the activities going on at the airport are too loud? i understand it's not an active airport, but it's been around since the 40s and i'm sure it hasn't been dead silent since then.

something similar happened in a neighboring town to me. for as long as i can remember it's been a basically rural town, plenty of small farms, plenty of open space, etc..., and one small local airport. now as our area is becoming more and more crowded many of the farms were sold to create developments and some of them are close to the airport. so of course, the people who moved into those developments are now complaining about the noise from the airport and want it shut down. umm, hello, retard, you moved next to an airport that's been there forever, it's your own fault

People really are this stupid and ignorant though...its sad. There is a pork packaging plant near me, and they have their own wastewater site, etc, etc. Developers built houses right on the other side of the fence from this. People bought these houses (with a pork processing plant, and shitwater treatment in plain view). Guess what they complain about?? My yard smells like a pig farm, can't something be done?? How fucking stupid can you be?!?!

A number of airports (Denver and Dulles among them) have handbooks that they hand out to residents and homebuyers that bluntly say "Airplanes make noise" and "In the future, there may be more airplanes" and "You're an idiot."

True story. Except for the last part.
