Hi - I'm a newbie that just bought a used '02 Protege ES w/42k miles. Lately the alarm has been going off randomly and stopping on it's own. All the doors and windows are up so I'm assuming it's being armed properly. Is there a fuse or something that could be causing this? Any ideas where to look will be appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

I found the 'Protoge FAQ' from "The Man" and found a TSB that appears to address this. Does anyone know where to find the 'shock sensor' , a small black harness that is routed past the relay bracket? If I can find these things there is adjustment that can be made to the shock sensor that decreases sensitivity. Many thatnks to 'The Man' for posting these TSB's.
Thanks again
Joe

it is likely attached on the underside of the steering column. Listen for the relay clicking when the alarm is turned off/on, that should help narrow it down. That's assuming it's the same on all cars.
