Does the Vibrant exhaust fit a Mazda 3 Hatch as a direct replacement or is cutting and re-welding needed to install? Are there any cat backs that are true direct replacement without cutting or welding?

why wouldn't the draxas or vibrant fit an 06? there were no changes made to the exhaust sytem nor have there been on the new face lift model either.

06's gas tanks are in a little different position...
Vibrant does fit, just gotta cut and weld a 3-4" piece in so it will clear the gas tank without resting completely on the side...
ARK said their exhaust will fit the 06s with no problems though.

What about the Borla? Does that require cutting as well and does anyone have this exhaust and if so, how is it?

The exhaust did fit w\out welding, just made me a little nervous having something getting hot sitting up against a gas tank...
You will have to cut the stock exhaust no matter what, as its one piece.
Borla makes quality stuff, dunno how it fits on 06s though. I believe it deletes the second cat.... so it should be louder than most..

pretty sure borla is a cat back... its got a flange fitting for right after the stock cat.

If its got a flange then it deletes the cat, slip on retains it. It would have been nice to have a flange after the 2nd cat. Exhausts woulda been cheaper, and problems with clamps would be gone.

Thats the turbo whistler I installed.
haha thats part of the Pzev emissions bullshit. That and if you look at the first pic, you can see my bung (3rd o2 sensor bung that is) right after the second cat. As the token black guy would say "that shits wack"

We actually do have two mufflers. If you look at wetsuit's first picture, the second doo-dad after the flange is the first muffler (aka resonator).
If its got a flange then it deletes the cat...
Well... unless you get the Draxas or Vibrant with the replacement hi-flow cat. Then it's not deleted, only replaced. :D

Yep, Borla's goes to front cat where you got to cut it and just bolt on, don't take no time to get on, plus sounds great!

To whom was that directed and what the heck are you talking about? What does ambient temperature have to do with exhaust? (scratch)

so that wierd boxy thing is for pzev shit... wonder wtf it does? and GW the resonator is actually a muffler? i thought it was just a piece of steel welded over the actual exhaust pipe to give a different sound (deeper) then with out it.

Dude, we had a cold front come through. It's never this cool, er, less humid this late in the year.

lol goldwing im just messing man, sorry for the confusion, its a general statement about the temp here... Im in tampa til monday for a paintball tournament. Actually after tossin sandals and shorts on, and spending the rest of the day walkin the fields, it was a real nice day. Hopefully the weather stays like this. Last few times ive been here it randomly rains then gets rediculously hot, and the humidity is unbearible...
The tourny is right next to james something stadium.

Well... what do you think a muffler does? :D
But no, it's not just a piece of steel welded over the pipe. It's a separate component that is specifically designed to change the sound of the exhaust. Not necessarily a deeper tone, just a different sound. Usually to smooth out something or another that some focus group decided didn't sound good.

That's Raymond James Stadium. You should hit Ybor or Channel Side Friday or Saturday night. Or Mons (boobs) (glare)

haha just ate at Lonestar steakhouse, place was real good. Every girl I talked to said to go to ybor. Hmmmm maybe have to. Only shitty thing about being at a paintball tourny is having to wake up early every morning, so late nights out drinkin attack you in the morning.

Let's keep it on topic, folks. If you want to have a personal conversation, take it to PM or a regional forum.
