Left License plate light not working

Hi. Thanks for reading my msg. My left license plate light isn't working but the right light does work. I tested the bulb and socket with a multimeter and they are OK but the wires to the sockets are dead. I was thinking fuse but the right light should also be out too, shouldn't it?? Alll the other lights are working. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

so there IS power going into the socket? if so, then it's teh bulb, if there ISN'T, then it could be a bad socket

When I put a multimeter across the terminals of the socket with the bulb in the socket there is continuity across the socket which should mean the socket and bulb are both good. When I connect the multimeter to the wires going to the socket, I don't get a voltage reading, the power isn't getting to the socket, but I don't know why I'm not getting any power.
