View Full Version : My Wild Ass Weekend

Well Ive accumulated quite a few parts for 2 months so I decided to put my intercooler on, on saturday. So I woke saturday and by 7 me and my friend had started working on it. We finished by 4. 3 of the hours were spent doing actual work and 4 were spent figuring out how to make stuff fit. It was a HiBoost FMIC kit by the way. Some of the pipes they sent me had been bent wrong and it was a bitch trying to make them fit. On top of that, it made the Injed intake which i was also installing fit wrong so now my tire rubs this one piece of sidewall that the intake cone is pushing out. Well alright I cant complain because when we finished it turned out pretty decent and it sounded awesome, kinda like a turkey getting raped. But that was not it. On Sunday I did my usual routine in the morning and then my friend called me up and asked if I needed help putting on my unichip. So I was like hell yeah, so I packed up and headed down to his joint. Halfway down the road my car started running real shitty and the CEL came on, its dark and its raining, oh boy. I just thought I might have missed tightening one of the pipes for the intercooler kit even though i had double checked and my friend had double checked. Well turned it wasnt the pipes. Then something in my head told me to check the MAF sensor and there it was the part beow the plug had broken loose off of its two screws so I called my friend who was about 40 min away and he came and then we jerry rigged it. So today I spent about 5 hours working on the car. 2 of which were the unichip. 45 minutes for the spark plugs and the rest trying to figure out why the hell it wouldnt start. We had unplugged the battery while putting in the unichip because it had said so on the instructions, but because of that somehow the alarm system got fucked up. The first time we tried to start it the alarm went off and the second time it did not turn on at all. Then after quite a few tries and alot suggestions from other techs we finally started it cause we figured out that there was a timer limit on when you hook the battery back up and when you can start it. I think it was 30 seconds or so. Well finally happy everything was running decently we went to go eat came back and the fucking car wouldnt start so we did the whole thing over again and this happened 2 more times when we stopped by two different auto parts stores then we went back to my friends to relax and then finally when I left the car started right up. This is because on the ride home it had finally gone through a full running cycle and set itself right again. So the car runs awesome now, putting on a new MAF sensor and trying to figure out how to get my switches for the chip to work and hopefully trying to set up to run low 14's and very possibly high 13's.

Looks like it came out alright. That's a tall order of mods for one weekend. I bet it feels like a completely different car now.

well i had the spring mod on it before and that was about it and now its twice as fast without it. i was running it with the spring for the first 30 min after i put the chip in cause i totally forgot about it and damn it was fast. originally i had only been planning on putting the intercooler in, but the opportunity arose to put the chip in, so i couldnt say no. now all i have left is the boost gauge which will be put in probably within the next few weeks, probably the weekend of NOPI.

Are you using the EBC that comes with the Unichip?

yes and im sure its working even though the switches dont work. i do get a little bit of spiking sometimes and some hesitation mainly around 80mph in 5th gear at about 3500?rpm i think. but otherwise it runs pretty good. i would even go to say im pretty sure i could beat an srt4 cause i test drove one before and this pulls more, has less torque steer and less wheel hop.

haha... good job bro. Although, you put the cold pipe on backwards. Happened to Brian as well. But, it works I guess, so no harm no foul.

Put that bad boy on the dyno now, see what numbers it puts up.

we tried putting the cold pipe the other way but that totally did not fit, that was the only way it would fit and we still had to do some cutting

Do you have a boost gauge? From your posts, it didn't sound like you have one.
