I just got my lip back from being painted and it looks sweet. Since they painted it on stands, it isn't in the exact shape to fit on the car. They said if I let it set out in the sun, it would bend back. It is rainy and cold out though :( Could I put the lip in a bathtub full of warm water so it flexes back into the right shape?
I ask because I don't want to screw the paint job! It was reasonable at $150, but I wouldn't want to pay that twice :D
Thanks (you'll definitely see pics once it is on)

I don't know what kind of bathtub you have, but when I first got mine I could only submerge about half of it in warm water. So I gave it a real hot shower instead. Then while the plastic was still warm, I set it out to dry and presto! straightened out. I don't recommend you do this with paint, though. I doubt the water will harm it any, but there's just too much of a chance of it slipping/hitting something and screwing up your paint job. I know how hard it is to have a part ready to go onto your car and have to wait to do it, but just wait till it's nice and sunny outside.

just use a dryer and it will do the job.!

Yes the hair dryer is a good idea just make sure you don't keep the hair dryer in one spot for too long. Or you can always wait for the sun to come out.

Ah, hair dryer, good idea! Thanks guys. I'll probably try that if I'm feeling impatient. I'm autocrossing this weekend so I may just end up waiting for the sun :D

what the hell... maybe I'm missing something, but how is the lip being bent to begin with if it's got coats of paint on it? I let mine stretch into shape long before I took it to be painted... even with flex primer and paint, I just don't see how it could be able to bend that much with paint on it.

For the amount of money they're asking I would expect it to come straight as an arrow from the factory.

It's not a manufacturing issue. The lip is made of urethane, and it's somewhere between plastic and rubber. So inorder to not charge an arm+leg for shipping, it's "folded" into a small box. But once you take it out and let it sit in the warm sun, it straightens itself out. And if you READ the first post carefully, you'll notice that the lip isn't bent from him taking out of the box, it's from the way the paint shop did their work. They put it on stands in a way that caused it to bend outta the proper shape. I'm sure he didn't just pull it out of the box and take it in all bent like that.

Hello,
When I got mine painted it was also bent. I sat it on the driveway in the sun for about 2 hours and then installed it. It worked good enough.
Good luck with the install and thanks.
And yes we are still selling them for 140 shipped. Give us a call mon-fri 9-4
