Okay my mom totaled her 2000 Mazda 626 and i was wondering if her intake manifold would fit my 2003.5 MSP. I know some 626 Manifolds fit the MSP but i didnt know the exact year. Also if it will fit what else will i need to take off her car, the egr pipe? or what?

Look under MSP for the single runner intake
"Stock Protege EGR pipe will not fit, we will include a new EGR pipe upon request or block off the EGR port on the manifold."
If the one for the Protege doesnt work, they will at least have what you need.
Or Block it off as they have the option to do so.

yes the manifold and the EGR pipe from the 626 will fit as long as it is not California emissions and is a 4 cylinder

the install takes about 3 hours give or take. installing a rear engine mount at the same time is a great idea as with the manifold out of the way you have a clear shot. you will need an intake manifold gasket, a throttle body gasket and depending on how damaged they are, injector o-ring/gaskets.

can i just go to autozone or one of those places and order the TB gasket and manifold gasket ?

you can get the gaskets from me, from mazda or any auto parts stores. ask for intake manifold and throttle body gaskets from either a 2002 626 four cylinder or 2002 protege with a 2.0

One question, if you block the egr, how would you go by so you wont get the CEL.

some have said that if you leave the tube connected to the intake manifold, cut the end off and place a breather filter on the end, it will not throw a CEL, though honestly i don't see how

As far as gaskets go you could all so use outlaw engineering/nsn motorsports right?

So you do have to re-route the Vaccum lines ?

wow... that seems like a lot of work..

Yes ... and you will need a replacement EGR tube. I've got a 626 mani sitting in my garage and I'll be doing this mod soon.

Yes, i know about the EGR pipe. So you just re route the vaccum lines, change the egr pipe, and get new intake manifold gaskets and tb gaskets, and then jus bolt it on ?

That's the idea - but things are never that easy :D You also have the injectors and various electrical conections. Just take a ton of pictures before you start and label everything. This is also a great time to put in a rear motor mount if you havn't already. I'm probably forgetting a few things, but I think that's it.
