Oil Cooler

being that we have water-cooled oil cooler what would be the benefits from using a stand alone oil cooler?

given that i live in miami, and it will get pretty damn hot during summer...

talking about summer...what would be the recommended oil for the summer time in fl?

as long as your water temps don't get too high, the oil cooler will still be effective. before installing an aircooled unit I'd monitor your water and oil temps. unless you are drag racing constantly or doing track days, you won't have problems.

as for oil, I use 10w30 all year in Texas.

Since the MSP already comes with an oil cooler, an external one may not be necessary. but low_psi is right, get some gauges and monitor your oil temps. If it's high and if you plan on racing your car or doing alot of autocrossing, then get one.

I run 10w30 Mobil1 here in California.

that is my next upgrade.I would say well worth the money.
1. Relocates filter to front of car ,cooler
2.Makes changing oil easier, filter up top
3.Adds 1.5 liters to system
4.Cools the oil, witch cools the engine
5.You can add turbo oil line directly to relocater.
6.You can add mechanical oil presure gauge directly to relocator.

I would also add a GREDDY OIL CATCH RESERVOIR/TANK,Reduces Mixtures Condensation,+adding more oil to system.

You forgot a part. Makes changing oil messy. If you have the clearance, you have to get a small tub or something to drain the oil from the filter during oil changes.

as if chaning the oil the way it is now wasn't messy....ovbiously, you will want to put the filter as low as possible....or at least i would do so...i don't need anyone looking at my filter

i think having an oil cooler is not such a bad idea, even if you don't auto-x....with todays highways bottlenecks....i cna't imagine how hard the fans work to keep engine cooled..

yes go 5/30 make sure its synthetic, add years to the motor.My cars always last 300+miles

i think having an oil cooler is not such a bad idea, even if you don't auto-x....with todays highways bottlenecks....i cna't imagine how hard the fans work to keep engine cooled..yes ,car makers would never put such a system in a car,they don't realy want yor car to last to 300ks.Your oil will actualy stay cleaner longer.Don't forget the magnetic drain plug.

it hooks up to where the original fiolter goes, and the filter would connect to it...it is not a relocating set up..it just adds a tiny radiator like thing between the block and the filter...two coolant lines go thru it
and yes, since the FS engines are all the same, you can swap that right out....many people do this to have access to a OIL feed line for the turbo
oh, btw..yeah you will need to tap-off the oil feed line :)
