I have been trying to trade in my car, but all the dealers are saying they can give the max $9,800 for my MSP. I looked on nada.com and they say trade in value is $12,575 for our MSP.

Dealers will never give you book value for it. If anything, they'll give you ~ $2000 less than book and then turn around and sell it for book + some markup.
Welcome to the real world.
Sell it on your own, or put up on eBay with a reserve you can live with. If it's in good condition you'll find a buyer. Just a hint though: Putting your dragrace time in your avatar is not a good way to indicate how easy a life a car has had... :D Good luck - what are you looking to buy?
Check this link - there's a market out there, current bid on a yellow MSP is over $13k at 27kmiles:

I have 33K miles the only mods are Hiboost FMIC, AEM CAI, and AWR Motor Mounts. According to Bob Moore Mazda, I still have my manufacture's warranty. I just want $13K for it. Nada trade in = $12,575 and retail = $14,875

When I traded in my MSP, the NADA value was around $12,725. I got $13,100. So never say never.

is it worth it to mod my car or wait until its paid off(2008) to get another one. I saw on a post that mental addiction said it would cost about $17K to get the MSP to 400 whp. I was wanting to get a '03 tiburon gt and to get it to 500 whp its only going to take about $10K.

it shouldn't take $17K to get any car to hit 400whp...

That's funny.
The high bidder has 2 positive feedbacks and they are from the seller of this MSP. So this makes me think he has 2 accounts and is upping the bids!

I have decided to keep the MSP and really get into modding it. I figure why get rid of my car and get more upside down than before. Even if I could get the tibby faster than the MSP... It doesn't matter; there is always someone that can beat you. So, I am just going to have fun with my car and when its paid off then I'll see. Thanks for your opinions.

17k, to hit 400?!
it's like 1.5k for evo :P
I just traded in my 3.5 with 32k on the clock for $13100 last week. (after having it for sale for a month and a half with no calls) If you get a dealer that is trying to make a sale, it is possible. I simply told them that they would have to pay the car off for me to buy a new one. Took like 4 hours of negotiating but they did it.
