Yeah so yesterday i was driving home from milwaukee and got into some bad traffic in chicago. It was raining really hard and we were going through construction, there was a huge puddle in the highway and when i drive through it my CEL came on, the car almost stalled, and wouldnt drive anywhere for a while. After a few seconds of hesitation it finally started going and now it runs fine. My CEL is still on, i need to disconnect the battery for a while, but is there anything else i should check to make sure that i didnt get water in my engine?? Im thinking it just temporarily cut off the air supply to my car causing it to sputter like it did.

The 3's MAF must be able to shut the engine off when it detects water kuz when i ran through a puddle of water when i had my CAI the car shut off completely so i coasted to the next parking lot let it sit for a few minutes and cranked it back up. I would take off the intake and clean it out just to be on the safe side.

yea they can read them for free! and also give you a print out of the code if you need them too. they usually just won't clear them.

This is the reason I want to install a bypass like the AEM one on my CAI.
I have the CorkSport "duct" and I don't want to deal with any vapor-lock related issues. We do get some serious downpours here in Massachusetts. I have had a few times that I cringe when going through deep standing water.

i went to my local auto zone and they couldn't read our (mazda3) codes.... the guy said the company was supposedly talking about getting new scanners so call yours first, it is free so if its not a far drive its worth a shot.
