DO any of you enter them?

They are having a local charity car show June 18th for a $10.00 entry fee. I was debating on going and entering the Zoom-Zoom. I think they have different catagories for old, import, modfied etc. I kind of hesitate on doing it because in the past I always hated seeing rice burners with 10 ft. wings stinking up the field along side classic mustangs. But since its for charity and fun it may be nice change to see a stock MSP out on the field. Any advice? other than to clean the crap out of it? lol

Bring it back to showroom finish...meaning from the freshness of the interior to the sparkling pieces under the car.

Depends on what kind of show it is. If it's a typical outdoors show run by a relatively small group, then just give the car a good wash & wax job, clean and detail the interior, clean your wheels, engine bay, and any other parts that are immediately visible.

If it's a SERIOUS show (ie Hot Import Nights or any other show series where people build show-specific cars just to rack up trophies at these things), then you have to step it up a notch. Meticulously clean the underside of the car, polish anything that can be polished, steamclean your interior, scrape and clean your wheel wells, have every body panel with any kind of damage professionally repainted, and so on. Basically, the cars that win these shows don't get driven.

But you know what? Screw it. Support the charity anyway. Don't make car shows only about winning all the time, or I'm willing to bet you get real sick of them real soon.

Those guys are idiots, your car looks clean.. people appreciate rare cars no matter what they are. It's not like you parked a stock Civic with wheels there.

I have been goign to shows since i was 16 all over north america.. if you go in with respect not blaring your stereo or revving your engine you will be fine. I made alot of 'older' friends at meets/shows with my old rides.. just be nice.

i was in a car show today sponsored by crutchfield....i lost to two ricers. one was a 240 all primer horrible body kit, and first place was a hatchback civic w/lots of chipped paint, but atleast it had paint. i was pissed off cuz i had one of the cleanest cars on the lot and i wasted 20 bucks signing up. so i asked how they judged it. he was goin on about putting alot into the cars and all that sayin how the 240 guy took a carbon fiber hood and converted it to a trunk (no wonder it didnt fit right) then i asked him what i needed to do to my car to make it trophy worthy and he said my car was too stock (intake, intercooler, exhaust, motor mount, boost and wideband gauge mounted under radio, turbo timer, debadged) so i said, ok then it needs to be more custom, he nodded, then i said but it doesnt matter if it looks like shit...i walked away before he could respond i wasnt gonna waste anymore time. alotta people there couldnt believe i didnt get first place......sry for the long post had to get that off my chest its bothering me i wasted money and half my day for that

Sorry to hear that... there is two things about shows that are very unfortunate... one is the whole talking things up to judges... some people will go and spout off things that arent true to make them seem better... like the guy with the 240 could have said the whole using a hood for a trunk thing to make it seem a little bit better when they merely bought a crappy fitting trunk lid. the other thing is some of the shows (mainly local) usally go with a "who you know and not what you show" theme. but all in all it depends on who is judging.

things that would spruce up a stock msp... like previously said: clean the engine bay, wheel wells and interior really well. plus your door jam areas. also you can polish a couple of things... a/c lines polish really easily and come to a chrome like finish with even neverdull. you could even polish your heat shield... it will take some time, but will look good in the end. since the show is for charity, go and have fun. and dont forget to remind everyone the rarity of the car you brought to there.
