(I've searched the forum, but didn't find any substantive info. If anyone has a thread I missed, please let me know. Thanks! Also, I'm local to Detroit, hence the shop names...
)

I appear to have warped front rotors (pulsing under breaking), and my front pads are on the squeal indicators (already know/knew this). Belle Tire last week swapped out my snow tires for summer tires, and pointed out (obviously) that my front pads were worn to the squeal indicators, the rotors were thick enough to reuse, but they didn't drive it off the lot to validate warp/pulsing.

Mazda wants $109 for the pads alone, but couldn't do a lookup on the rotors without a VIN (after the $109, I declined the loopup). Murray's Auto has very inexpensive rotors ($29/per) and pads ($30), but they can't confirm these are for the MSP Turbo. S&G Auto wants $68 for the pads and $38/per on the rotors, and confirmed they were for the MSP (seemed insulted I asked 3 times, but that's S&G)... think these are just 626 V6 pads/rotors?

What's the latest on MSP front pads/rotors? $150 for the pads/rotors from S&G seems like a darned good price, given the $109 quote for pads alone from Mazda. Yes, I'd like to go EBC, but that's not happening this week... need to deal with a few maintenance issues (including rear squeak, and banging rear woofer).

Thanks!

Steve B.

I had to replace my rotors not too long ago.

The rotors need to be MSP specific. If I recall correctly, they guy at my dealership described the rotors as being "euro-spec" for some damned reason. I do remember them saying that the regular Protie rotors will not work, though. Cost my ass around $200 for the front ones. I would just suggest trying to get them turned at Napa or something. Beyond that, just order some Hawk HP's off apexr1 or somethin for your new pads...

Anyone got any other suggestions for him? Corrections? lol

I did my fronts about a month ago for $250 with oe rotors and ebc green pads. i love the braking performance increase and intend on doing the same thing on the rears when the time comes (will be soon, got about 3-4mm remaining on my rear pads)

I am running 2000 V6 626 rotors that I got from www.rockauto.com (http://www.rockauto.com). They're Raybestos PG Plus rotors and they were $17 a piece plus shipping. I mated them with Carbotech Bobcat pads which were $120 for the fronts. Teriffic pads for Autox.

The 626 rotors mate up perfectly.

Absolutely. Only difference is the direction of the cooling vanes or something. I autocrossed all last season on them without incident last summer.

If you look at Rockauto.com, in their catalog, you'll noticed that the PG PLUS part number is the same for the MSP and 2000 V6 626 rotors.

Pm Ken at protegegarage.com. He might be able to get you a better deal.

EBC pads and rotors all the way around. I can stop on a dime. I also added stainless lines to the setup as well. In all, came to around $375 shipped from NSNMotorsports.com. Contact Turfburn on the forum for more info.

dang, you just missed Jeff@Tripoint's brake GB. it was running for a long time. Maybe he'll decide to do one again some day. I think i was the last person to get some parts off of him. 4 Centric e-coated rotors and 4 PosiQuiet ceramic pads for $199.
