Ok,, im not sure that i lost it or that the shop that did my clutch install couple months back didnt give it back to me.
well now the car has been down with a blown diff since end of feb, and the shop is ready to drop the tranny and put the new diff in put cant with out the wheel lock,, i told them to just hammer a socket over the lock to take them off, but they refuse to do so.
They have called one of the local mazda dealers to see about getting a universal on or some shit like that.
some reason when i bought the car i remember they saying something about the little id tag on my main set of keys, that its to order a replacment wheel lock key.
i think the name of the company that make them are macgaurd, and there was a little yellow envelope order form with my manual.
if anyone know how to order a new key please let me know.

goto advance auto parts and get a wheel lock remover. ITs about 30 bucks, and needs hammered over the locks to get em off. If the shop wont do it, ask then if you can come in and do it. IT will probably take forever to get a new lock.

i called the dealer my self the next day after the car got towed out when i coulnt find the key in the car, and the guy at the parts department is a retard, he told me that all the proteges have the same wheel lock,, thats not what ive been told, but i guess i could be the one thats wrong.

If it's the OEM wheel lock, the dealership has a master set. It's like 10-15 keys to cover all the mazda wheel locks made by McGard.
If the dealership won't get it off for free for you, call up McGard and if you give them enough info (a key number would do it) they should be able to send you a new key.

i guess thats what they are trying to get a hold of right now,, i found mcgard website, im going to call the shop here in a little bit and get the number from that tag on my keys, and call mcgard and see if thats the code for my key and order me 2 new keys.

That's the code for your ignition key not the wheel lock key.
I couldn't find the code for my mcgard key so they had me mail them one of the locks (I broke my original key but had gotten all but one of the locks off before it completely broke). I don't have the Mazda OEM ones though, I have mcgard lugs and locks that I bought aftermarket.
The dealership might be able to get you a key, but if they won't give mcgard a call. I didn't realize that they are like 45 minutes away from me, it would have been faster to just drive over there than wait for the mail but oh well.
You might want to look in your owner's manual for a wheel lock key code sticker.

hmm i coulda sworn that the dealer told me that tag was for my wheel lock but its been 2 years now so i proboly have that mixed up.
the shop that the car is at is like 40min drive for me,, so ill just call them and have them look in the manual.
it figures i use to not keep the manual in the car, but for some reason i put it back in the car couple weeks prior to this happening.

they got the car outside? if yes, go there at 2am with a ski mask and a 16pt socket, hammer it on and take the lockers off, then call them the next day and tell them to try taking the wheels off now =P

Hey, where is the shop? I live close to you in Duluth. If the locks are the same, I could maybe let you use mine. I doubt that they are the same though. I'll try to get Scott (Velocifero) to email me a pic of his key (pattern) to see if they are the same.

Do you think the shop has a digital camera and could email you a pic of the pattern? If it is the same as mine, I do not have a problem letting you borrow it, so long as I get it back quickly.
