Dallas, Texas - Dodge has introduced the redesigned 2007 Durango at the Dallas Auto Show, and has announced that engineers will configure it to produce the Durango Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), available in 2008. The hybrid version, which will be linked to the 5.7-litre Hemi engine, will be the Chrysler Group's first production full hybrid system.

For 2007, the Durango is available with a 5.7-litre Hemi V8 with Multi-Displacement System (MDS), and an E85-compatible 4.7-litre Flexible-Fuel Vehicle V8 engine. Features include standard electronic stability program, side curtain airbags and tire pressure monitoring system. Available convenience features include ParkSense rear park assist, one-touch lane-change signal, stain-resistant fabric, express up/down front windows, dual-zone automatic climate control, 115-volt outlet, quad bucket seats, remote start and 20-inch wheels. New for 2007 are optional second-row bucket seats with a centre console. The two-mode hybrid system was co-developed by DaimlerChrysler, General Motors and the BMW Group, and is expected to deliver up to 25 per cent better fuel economy, using electric motors less than half the size of traditional hybrids.
