03.5 Spoiler Install Question

I tried this on the regular Protege but received no responses. Maybe someone here can help me.

I purchased a used 2003.5 MSP spoiler and am attempting to install it in a 2002 LX with no spoiler currently. I've cheched the service manual as well as a search on this forum but no luck.

I found locations to drill holes for the 4 bolts (2 each side) but the spoiler has two shorter plasic knobs that will need to have holes drilled also.

Since they are not threaded, my question is whether there is some method of attaching them to the trunk lid or do they simply sit in the holes loosely?

easiest way is to trade trunks with a msp that wants to go wingless... i believe alejo_nin and Sickspeed can walk you through that

If you can take those plastic things off the spoiler, then u don't have to drill more holes. I don't think u need them, cause the stock 99-03 spoilers have something similar and i removed mine without problems.

But yea if you drill the holes out, they kinda snap in there.

Just dremel off the plastic plugs. They were just used as locating/retaining plugs for eaiser installation at the ports. They aren't needed, just use the 4 studs coming out of the wing

Yeah, I put an 03.5 spoiler on the back of my 03 LX when I had her. I just shaved the knobs off and used 3M double-sided tape to make sure it stays put.

Works fine.

Fun Fact: the guy who posted above me is who I got my wing from. ;)
