my msp was broken into while i was out of the country...the bastards got my stock kenwood faceplate and the sub. Its whatever tho, the b****** gonna get theirs one way or another. Im gonna replace the radio with a avic-n2 or n3 maybe but the real point of this thread is that my shift knob...i guess thats what you call it... the "stick" with sparco on it was vandalized. I guess they didnt know how to get it off...(no one ever said theives were overly smart) anyway the black grip tape around the shifter is missing. I have driven the car without it and i can tell u it pinches your skin with it missing. Does anyone know where I can find a diffrent shift knob all together? I mean i looked in a few stores in they have "the fast and the furious" light up knobs. I mean thats real cheesy looking....any help would be appreciated

sorry to hear man, it really pisses me off when people do things like this, its your property and pride they are fucking with, anyways, they will get theirs no doubt, I have TWMs counter weighted knob, I love it. here's a pic of it, its not the best picture as the gauges were the focus of the picture, check out their web site, you might get interested in a short shifter as well, imo theirs is the best, and I have experience with Kartboy and B&G. I'll try to find some better pictures if you are intersted, i know I have some, but this picture was already loaded onto msprotege.

here's the knob comparison to a 03.5 knob, unfortunately the installed pics are on my home computer, but I can do my best to get them posted tonight for you. here is the link to the protege short shifter from TWM (http://www.twmperformance.com/shortshifters/mazdashortshifters/mazdaprotegeshortshifters.htm) They are probably the expensive ones but it is one of the best feeling mods I have done, they have ball bearing bushings and they are a smooth positive shift, i also have Kartboy shift linkage bushings and the Bronze oil connecting bushings in the front. The differences in the Kartboy shifter is it is the shortest (height wise), B&G shifter is about the same height as stock and has a slightly shorter throw, it is also the hardest to install, a real PITA. The TWM shifter is a little shorter in height and has the shortest throw out of any of them, I get nothing but compliments from people that drive my car. The screws in the pic are for height adjustment, once in you won't see them sticking out. it weighs about three-four times what the stock knob weighs.

sorry, i didnt get to those pics last night, was busy with sway bar install and then a bunch of the Ga forum members bowl every thursday, anyways, it took me a couple of minutes driving to get used to it. I kept trying to push it too far into gear, which you can't do. But now that I am used to it is really weird to drive somebodies stocker, the difference is phenominal(sp?)

no problem, I have helped a couple people with walk throughs on installing TWM shifters, as well as helped install 3 TWMs in person, one B&M shifter and One Kartboy.

Nice "tuning device" in your cupholder in that first pic!

Lol, that actually may not be what I thought it was. It looked just like a pipe at first. On the left side.
