Ok, so.... Driving down the freeway last night... not even tailing this guy- proably a good 5 car lengths or more behind him, kicks up a rock and I remember hearing it hit and I was like, shit... that probably just dinged my windshield and sure enough, it did. When I got home and looked at it, it was dark out but it had not cracked. I got up this morning and went to work and when I came out I noticed a huge crack that it created in an L-shape across my windshield.

Looking for some feedback from others that have gotten their windshields replaced? I have full glass so it wont be a problem to get fixed, just looking for others' experiences. Ive heard rumors of the car having more road noise after? ??

I'll post some pics of it later if I remember. (thumb)

don't feel bad... i cracked mines twice already...

1st - Snow storm... we still had class in this bad weather... some kind of rock jus flew up somehow and wacked my windshield... man, i could hear it cracking and since it was cold it cracked really fast...

2nd - I'm a pretty big guy, i was changing my wipers and i accidently hit the metal part of the wiper thing... its spring loaded so it jus flung back and wacked my windshield... yeap, big dent, than cracks appeared like crazy...

funny thing is that i read the manual and it said to be careful not to hit the windshield with the metal part to prevent damage... boy did i feel dumb... it was accidental though, $50 deductable... they came and replaced it in front of my house...

thats it for now, i'm hoping this new one will last a few years lol...

i've heard many stories on crack winshields due to the stress that the ceiling puts on it. so a small crack under pressure WILL get bigger. Sry to hear that it happened and i have not heard anything about having louder noise after the window is replaiced

I just got a crack a few weeks back. Just after I replaced my stereo. Blah, one thing after another.

I've had my windshield crack twice. Once, it started due to a rock strike then water got in it then froze. The next time was actually on the track. I was comin out of turn 2 at Phoenix International and threw my car to the right into turn 3 and heard a bang and my windshield had cracked (too much flex). It then got bigger when I was passed by a mustang who had no exhaust when he was toppin out 3rd gear. The same crack then grew again a few weeks ago due to my new AWR 95 durometers. haha

shit you should see mine, i have one starting from the passenger side going all the way across to the middle, and one from the top driver side going towards the one in the middle, if it keeps going it will be the michealangelo of windshields.

I recently had mine replaced after a screw hit it below the wiper blades and caused a crack almost the width of the windshield. $100.00 deductible later I have a nice new windshield. Haven't noticed any difference in wind noise or anything.

i donno if its only in florida, but there is a law that your insurance company has to replace your windsheild if it is cracked free of cost to you.

I was hoping GA was that way, but it's only certain insurance providers here. I need to check with my provider to see if I can get that on my policy. With the commute to/from work, there's always stuff kicking up from the road just waiting to get intimate with my windshield!

Hell I'm on my third windshield.

1. Ice from a blow truck
2. Owl (ya rly)
3. Mysteriously cracked the other day and I've yet to replace it.

Out of curiosity, how much does a replacement windshield usually cost?
