I know there was a TSB on the alignment of our cars. I forgot to ask the firestone service center if they have that spec or are using some other spec. They said my alignment was inspec but there is a lot of tire wear on the inside of my tires.

factory specs have pretty wide tolerances. post your toe and camber specs if you've got them handy.

firestone should have the correct specs. many of the techs are pretty ignorant though. make absolutely sure they are using the ones for the msp. yes, they are different than regular protege specs. shawn (chojin) posted them a long long time ago. might still be able to find it lost somewhere on here.

incidentally, firestone will be doing my alignment tomorrow.....after that stupid nail forced me to get a new tire. thank goodness for road hazard warranties and lifetime alignments (thumb)

yea it depends on the firestone you go to also since it is company policy to not work on any cars that have suspension modifications on it to be able to align it since its not oem stuff. but some stores are cool and let that slide. one time alignment prices are 69 as stated above but depending on the district the lifetime varies. its 139 in jax, fl district ive noticed that they charged more generally more for stuff up north.

but yea the specs should be in the machine. then all you need a tech that won't just put the heads on and and say. . ."its in specs back it out" and be able to tweak the toe so its exact as that pretty much the only thing you can adjust anyway.

im still waiting for a new alignment rack. the old hunter 311 that we are using at this shop is ancient. meh and it gets out of calibration like 1 a month

Firestone sucks at allignments, and the local guy working at the show overcharges.

j/k, went to traitorhound's shop for one 2 weeks ago for an allignment...

i had mine done at midas last summer, and by the end of the summer the inside edge of my tire was DONE. i bought new summer tires and wanted to get it realigned before destroying these too.is the mp3 the same alignment specs as the msp since its basically the same parts? also since i have mostly mp3/msp pieces should i make sure they align it to mp3/msp instead of ES?

I just had a lifetime done by Firestone this past week b/c I side-swiped a curb during a heavy snow this past winter. I took it to them b/c it was pulling to the right but the steering wheel was straight, and they "put it to w/in spec" but afterwards it felt identical; still pulled right. I took it back the next day and they "fixed it" but AGAIN it felt identical; pulled right with the steering wheel straight, and quite obviously I might add.

Bummer is I can't read their spec print out to compare b/c their printer ink is too light on the page (pissed).

I'm concerned how after they drove it the second time around they told me it was all better, but it still pulled so hard to the right. I'm fairly certain it's the alignment b/c when I let go of the steering wheel and put it in neutral to coast the steering wheel forces itself straight but the car pulls right.

probably some caster pull from hitting the curb. . .they might just be doing "toe and go" if they are lazy. . it might drive fine when holding the wheel and then bam let go and it pulls

"toe and go" sounds like exactly what Dunn Tire in Rochester, NY did to me. They gave me the printout and I asked them why they didn't adjust the camber since that was the whole point of me bringing it in, and they said that it was "within acceptable range". Now my Ecsta MXs are DEAD on the inside but still have a really decent amount of tread left on the outside. this sucks, they only lasted me a year (and I use snow tires in the winter) because of the stupid alignment job.

I paid 100 for the alignment job but they only warrantied it for 3 months because my car was/is lowered. It would normally be lifetime. I would have brought it back but I went back home for the summer a couple days later and wasn't back up to school within that time period.

I got a copy of the alignment spec's for the MSP from the dealership. They actually say for the "Mazdaspeed Protege" and the car is within spec. Looks like I have to play musical tires now to see if it's the tire. (pissed)
