Ken, at protegegarage sells a new one. But hopefully its something minor, and not your LSD.

save up for a quaife, or get a new stock lsd and get it welded from the get go

The car won't move... It's pretty similar to a busted clutch from what I've heard.

the mechanic told me that is the clutch!!! If ts the LSD i will make a noise and it doesn't make any noise. I hope for God sake that is the clutch!!!!

forgot... At any rate, the clutch is cheaper than an LSD. Are you going OEM clutch?

well the mechanic told me that!!! If the LSD broke it will make a big noise when i put 1st and 2nd gear and he show us that if it was broken the wheel would move ( the car is elevated ) and t doesn't! I Hope when they open it the LSD will be fine im praying to God that happens and is the clucth

I dont know if I have a factory freak or I just drive my care carefully.

I mean I do beat on it (escpecially the suspention) but I dont drag race or andything that requires a hard launch. I make sure not to get wheel hop. i do autocross alot.

And right now I am absolutely problem free since I bought the car back in 2003. Original LSD with 41,000 miles. 1 reflash and 1 broken radio.

Everytime I read these thread I get parnoid and nothing ever happens (knock on wood). eh, my MSP has been good to me. Super reliable.

For future reference, easy way to tell if it is the clutch or LSD is to try to put the car in gear while running and sitting still. If it is the clutch (assusming it is completely gone, like you can't drive you car) you will be able to, if it is the LSD there will be grinding since the motor is still turning the tranny. I have never personally tried this, but it seems like it would be a valid test (boom07)

From what I've seen, you just need a new LSD, transmission should be okay.

Everyone told me (even a few mechanics) "Its your clutch, just take it out and you'll see". I knew from the get-go it was my LSD that went bad...sure enough, took it apart and that was it.

yeah is the LSD and for put a new one and clean the transmission will cost 2500 im so pissed because i was going to trade the car for the new vw passat and didn't due it!!! i need somthing reliable and the msp isn't

1 blown engine-warranty
2 broken radio-warranty
3 turbo leaking-warranty
4 LSD failure-no warranty
5 Turbo leaking again-no warranty
6 turbo manifold craked-no warranty
7 rear clunk-warranty stills doing the same shit

DAmm to many problems I have heard for a mazda engineer (friend of my dad) that the msp is more made in US than in japan , that our engines isn;t made for turbo weak pistons and camshafts and a weak transmission thats why to many LSD and engine blowns due to more boost and mods.
I love my car but right now i hate it!! NO MORE MAZDA FOR ME at least is 100% made in japan.

ok i went to a really exellent place here in south florida , called tbk performance and its especialized in mazdas ,audis and vws and from i heard a friend of my brother has a protege with all the msp parts and hi ran in moroso 1/4 mile low 12s if you are interested in hp parts like manifolds, lsds,intercoolers etc pm back i will contact them and hook you up!!! I will keep the msp and get an audi a3 for daily driving

Saw them run a 12.8 in a hiboost ES. Manny's a nice guy and his work looked top notch. He's the guy that took care of Lara's car.

damm he does an Good job , he put the act clutch and the quaife LSD for 1600 total with parts 2600 and he will hook me up with the engine managment, fmic and the downpipe. Oh and he will put the APR chip in my audi both will have 250hp and 210 whp thats awesome !!!!
