Hello everyone. I have been searching the forums and could not find anyone saying what their oil pressure reading is after they install a new gauge. I have bought an autometer oil pressure gauge but it only reads up to 100. I just want to make sure that this is enough for the MSP. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all.

At idle it can be anywhere from 20 to 40psi. Full throttle it can be anywhere from 75-90psi. You'll be fine with a 100psi gauge.
Did you find the threads on how to install the sending unit properly?
if you need help, livelyjay is the man to talk to. I could also try to help, but he's the reason i got mine done. FWIW, my readings go all the way from about 10 PSI to about 70. Mine seem to read lower than the norm. But ya, you'll be fine with a guage that only goes to 100 psi.

I can't take credit for knowing it all, I just did a crap load of research before I did this on my Lancer. I was lucky though in that the Lancer engine block has an oil access plug right by the filter near the passenger tire, it was easy as hell to get at (didn't even need to jack up the car). What made it easier is I already had my turbo feed line at that access point, so I just needed to add a few fittings to get it to work.

my readings are also between 10-55psi, but I'm wondering if using synthetic oil is making my pressure lower than what some others have reported.
When the car is cold the psi reading is ~55psi (idle and under moderate acceleration--I never pin it when cold so I wouldn't know if it goes higher). However, when it warms up (i.e. the oil becomes more viscous) it decreases in psi. So, I'm thinking that synthetic oil (being more viscous than normal oil) would create the lower numbers by nature...
does that make sense to anyone else?
(sorry to thread jack, but it's kind of related).

cold idle = 60psi
warm idle = 20psi
hot idle = 15psi
redline = 60psi
redline coldish = 75/80psi

Factory specs are 50-70 psi at 3000 rpm. No idle specs or redline spec indicated.
Mine reads just under 25 at hot idle, and usually around 55-70 lbs cold.

and who of you reporting your oil psi readings are running synthetic?
