Does anyone have any idea what could be happening? I swapped ECUs on a Protege ES, now using a MSP ECU and everytime in 4th gear @ 4500-4700 it cuts. Not sure whats happening.
I dont have xperience with the MSP ECU so I thought I should ask. I have searched for a while, but still got no clue.

Tito seguimos con el problema. De hecho ahora con la cableria que me distes el carro empieza a escopetear por el muffler, como si no estuviera quemando gasolina bien.

backfire through the exhaust as if it's not burning gas well?

Yes thats right.
We change spark plug wires yesterday, but this just didnt resolve issue of the 4500rpm engine stumbling, Like Fuel Cut Problem or Ignition.
We replaced other parts also and didnt resolve problem.

well fuel cut is a standard issue with msp's, and thus their ecu. don't think it's supposed to happen at 4500 rpm unless the boost is turned up high

we lowered the boost and it still does the problem

No fuel cut, we just max out the MAF and after that it just dumps fuel. What size turbo are you guys running?

yeah, you need to figure out what makes your car different than a stock msp. so far you share the ecu in common, but something else has gotta be fubar'd

Thanks for all the help people...Its a wrx IHI turbo setup...More pics, video, dyno and info about the car here:

We switched and fixed some stuff; back to stock fpr, new plugs, coils, wires, selenoids.
Milton, I heard the car backfiring when you left me home, theres still something we need to check, remember that your FPR was jammed and pushing too much fuel thru the injectors...right? Maybe now the injectors are bad.
If this still doesnt solves the issue, we will need to check the MAF voltage and see what it tells. It could be a boost leak somewhere hidden, causing the MAF to see too much air...still need to monitor MAF voltage which we kept stock.
Milton...let me know.

well does the WRX IHI flow the same as a T25R? If not your fuel/ignition mapping is wrong. why not sell the msp ecu and get a afc? I dont see why you would want an msp ECU with a different turbo than T25R?>..

Well, this engine is going with forged rods, modified stock pistons, microtech LT10s with STI injectors.
So...the ECU is for sale. $200

I've checked everything and determined it had to be the maf sensor. My new one should be in any day now to affirm whether or not it's the prob.
