A Ferrari F430 is fast, this GT2 F430 is faster.

MARANELLO, Italy — Ferrari has teamed with Italian coachbuilder/tuner Michelotti to create the 430GT, a racing car fitted with an aluminum chassis and a 4.0-liter V8 that is intended to contest Porsche's dominance in FIA GT2 competition.

The lightweight chassis incorporates aluminum, carbon fiber and Kevlar. Combined with the stripped-down cabin, these materials help cut the weight of the car to a mere 2,425 pounds.

The exterior of the car has been wind-tunnel tested and fitted with additional aerodynamic aids, including a large rear deck spoiler.

To conform to GT2 specifications, Ferrari reduced the capacity of the 430's 4.3-liter V8 to 3,999cc. The twin-cam, all-aluminum engine is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox.
