What would you guys reccomend for a relatively inexpensive set of wheels ($100-$150 each)? I'm leaning towards a 16", because I want to keep the overall diameter the same as stock, and I think that w/ a 17" tire and lower profile tires, the ride will be bumpier and that will make my car rattle more. I do, however, like the look of 17" wheels better.

I'm looking for something that has a lip and comes out a little further (wider?) than the stock rims.

Thanks in advance!

Anyone know much about Riax wheels? I found these on ebay and they look nice and the price is right.

Rotas look nice on P5s. So do Volks, Team Dynamics, and some others.

The wheels i'm interested in (Riax Zuka) are 17 x 7 w/ a 42mm offset. I am also interested in lowering my P5 w/ Tein S-techs.

What size tire would keep me close to the stock overall diameter?

Would I be able to notice a harsher ride with that lower profile tire?

Would I experience any rubbing? Under what conditions?

I thought my P5 w/ Tein S-techs and 18x7.5 RAYS G-games + 215/35/18 tires would be a rough ride, but it's not.

you'll most likely rub with the +42 offset. stick with a 48 offset or higher so you can fit 215/40-17's on them if you're worried about your tires being too thin.

Does the offset move the rim outwards? So a 48mm offset would stick out 6mm more than the 42mm offset?

What size tires would fit on a 17x7 42mm offset without rubbing, assuming i'm lowered w/ Tein s-techs?

nope, it's the other way around. 42 sticks out 6 mm more than 48.

I like the ride better. You can feel the road a little.

If you want cheap and good, go with Rota. They make really good wheels.

The only catch is finding one in the correct lug pattern and offset. Talk to Rishie (do a search); he might have some custom wheels floating around.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

Amaff, do you have lowered suspension or stock?

I got my Riax Secas from Wheelmax. They are ok for cheap rims. Look good, but it lacks quality in that the lug nut holes barely fit the socket, so the paint is rubbing off. Fet a different lug option, and you will be ok. They come with Tuner or Gorilla lugs.

Other than that, I think they are great! They look sweet, too. I got rims and tires for around $800. Running 205-40-17 with the 42 offset on 17 x 7 rims, no rubbing. You may have the roll the rear fender if you drop it, as they barely fit, according to the Rischie fitment guide. I put MP3 springs on just yesterday, no rubbing. barely fits in the fenderwell.

So I would say Riax is ok, there are szeveral of us with the Seca model on the forum, too.
