Hello all. I need help please. I have a problem with my turbo. Sometimes when i try to boost, it will boost fine but sometimes the turbo spools but the car holds back. Has anyone encountered this? And if so what could this be? Also, does anyone know what is the max boost psi the stock engine can hold. I heard it was 13 psi. Please help.

13 psi = bad. what psi u can run depends on mods. if ur stock, keep it where it is.
do u mean it hesitates and then frees up? or doenst ever create the boost? cause theres a know issue where it bogs down when getting into boost (its in the tune).

engine block is stock but there are a few mods. like greddy blow-off, factory wastegate, front mount intercooler, 3 inch piping for turbo and turbo x boost controller. Sometimes it spools and flies, sometimes it spools and holds. When i try to take off from a light without boost, it shudders and then i let off the gas and ease real slow back into it and then it is somewhat fine. I feel the spool and build up but there is no speed. It holds back

I have had a problem like this too, at first I thought it was the restrictive exhaust, but even after upgrading it still feels like its being held back. like the trubo spools up but all the power is being cut off to somewhere else. I think it can be fixed with Enigne management or maybe its the acuator that need to be replaced???

you have a boost gauge to tell you whats happening boost wise? i know the stock ecu likes to go pig rich in boost. so it seems like a hesiatation. if u have a gauge u can see if its holding boost or not.

when the car starts hesitating and holds back, the boost guage shows normal like its ok. it builds up the pressure fine but no release. the problem started happening with the stock setup before i modded anything. so i slowly changed things, but nothing helps.

yea might be the stock tune, mine was pretty bad, seemd sluggish. my AFRs were well into the 9's on the dyno :(

Mine does a similar thing and from what I've been able to figure out, it's a lean condition. If I'm into boost (6 psi or less) for a sustained period (like going up a grade or hill), but not rolling into the throttle enough to trigger open-loop on the ECU, it will fall on its face or hesitate badly around 3.5-4k rpms. If it acts like it's going to sputter and I give it a bit more gas, which triggers the ECU to dump fuel, then it clears up and pulls pretty hard. I don't have any way to prove it yet, but based on my full throttle dyno pulls after my mods, I think its going way lean at light throttle and moderate sustained boost.
Basically, I agree with the others. It's in the A/F ratio tuning.
