I walk away to talk with some coworkers, then, I come back to my car to see it full, but noticed the regular pump was on. I brought this to the attention of the manager, who then got his 'mechanic' involved. After a much heated debate with the dumbasses, i just demand a refund and I'm on my way. I guess I'll just drive the next few days with the a/c on and no boost. :(

This is getting pretty interesting, and I think it's good that this discussion is happening. People's beliefs and opinions, however right or wrong, are not likely capable of change without exposure to other people's beliefs and opinions. The least that can come from all of this is a better understanding of how the other thinks, and why.

That said, I think that it is entirely within my rights to get pissed off when I ask for one thing and get another. Especially when it's something that can cause thousands in damage to my car. If it likely happens because of a language barrier issue from a recent* immigrant, it would be that much more frustrating. However, there's no easy solution for that and our gov't doesn't currently require any of us to be fluent in English. (*Meaning, more recent than my or your family tree. IMHO, we're all immigrants except for Native Americans.)

FWIW, turning on the A/C is not going to make the situation any better. The A/C is only going to put an additional load on the engine, making the engine and turbo work a little bit harder to pull the car.

I experienced this firsthand for years as an IT professional and it caused some serious problems. Do I hate Indians because of this? No. That would be illogical and ignorant. What I tried to do was deal with manufacturers and programmers who were price-competitive and also made sure that at least their sales, sales engineering and upper level support staff were fluent in English. If I didn't, the language barrier could (and often did) adversely affect my project. I voted with my wallet. There's an idea.

Since we're ranting freely here, I'll tell you what my biggest pet peeve is with our population is lately:

Learn to WRITE our language. Do you have any idea how hard it is to read quickly through the threads on this (or any) forum when there's often little or no punctuation? When every third word is misspelled? When the writer's thoughts have no organization? When there's no clarity in the expression of their ideas? Maybe this isn't as hard for some of you as it is for me, but when I'm reading through my eyes snag on every typo, every misspelled word. Sometimes I have to read through even a short post several times to understand what the writer is trying to say. Nobody's perfect and I expect the occasional error in even my own writing. This goes beyond the occasional error though. Much of what I see posted here is even worth trying to read and respond to. If you aren't willing to take the time to capitalize, insert a few commas and periods, doublecheck your spelling, etc., then why should I take the time to read it? Is your time worth so much more than mine? Our grammar rules are here for a reason...they make English consistent and make it easier for the reader to take in the writer's ideas. It's not just here on the forums, though. It's typically worse here, but I see this in my dealings with other real estate professionals. I don't regard the ones who can't communicate clearly as professionals at all. If your job requires written communication, then learn to communicate clearly if you want to be considered good at your job. Period.

Oh, and I find it pretty damn funny that Alejo_NIN...who clearly states that he is Hispanic and still working on his grammar...is one of the better writers I've seen in this thread! He can even spell "grammar", which is a commonly misspelled word.

Yep. Medical as well, but that doesn't export well. Phone support does, but that doesn't mean I like it. My point was that I have my own beefs with the language barrier as well. I sympathize with those who find it frustrating and unnecessary when it happens on American soil. These guys are extremely smart, same for the asians. They come to this country for the oppurtunity and they take it head on. Start early in college, aim for nothing but high grades, get a grad degree, become a doctor/pharmacist/engineer/etc. All the high paying jobs. Why? Because they don't sit around and complain about people like y'all. The American culture is really weak. Parents raise their kids to 'you got a c? but you did your best? aw that's okay'. Asian/indian parents: 'you got a B+? motherfucker....*whips out the belt*'. That's the difference. If you are concerned with these people 'taking over' your own country, it's because of the lack of effort on your behalf. And the old fobs that you were complaining about, their $5/hr jobs here pay a lot more than what they get in these other 3rd world countries. They probably saved up for years for a ticket to come to the US. He's just trying to feed his family.
