View Full Version : Alternative to DaveB/********** gauge rings?

Ok, I had a lift in a 2005 MPV this morning and at some point I looked at the cluster and I noticed that it looks quite similiar (in terms of shape and ring size) as the 3rd gen protegés. Just wondering if anyone tought of using the OEM chrome rings on that cluster to see if it fits. If so and if the price tag at the dealer is less than the DaveB/********** gauge rings then it might be a good alternative (could even be found at a junkyard).

Looks pretty much alike to me.

Honnestly I have no idea if they come off and I already have my brushed DaveB. But I tought I might pass the info if anyone wants to try it out.

I was just at the dealer this morning and I took a look at the rings. All 3 rings are actually 1 piece. They don't sit as far down as daveB's rings though. I'm not too sure on whether or not you could just buy them, but I know the base MPV does not have the rings.

u think that mini van can really go 200 when the msp can only go 137?

You're making me miss my MPV - we had a great one but it was too small and we went to the Odyssey... both are great vans, and both haul very serious butt when you're motivated.

I actually purchased DaveB rings for the MPV but traded it before putting them on. They looked *really* close though when I held them up to the cluster. I ended up selling the DaveB's, then FedEx lost the package, taking the now-rare DaveB's with it...

Not sure if you guys noticed it or not but if you look really close, the shaping of the 2 cluster is almost identical.

I would say the rings fit!

haha dude, i dont care if you didnt notice the kmh, it's just logical....funny guy though
