Meet is on hold until further notice.
If anyone has the time to dedicate to organizing this and making it happen, please do.

http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2602478#post2602478

This is it, the meet you've all been waiting for. Sign up now for the Mazda Forums event of a lifetime!

What we have:
- A central location, Nashville Tennessee (exact location will depend on the headcount), and known venues that can handle our needs (including lodging, etc).
- A date, the first weekend of September (1st-3rd).

What we need:
- Dedicated Mazda enthusiasts who will commit to this. There are more than enough people on here to get the attention of Mazda North America and many vendors to come to this. All that they need is to know that people are actually going to show up to this.
- We need people to get signed up for this as soon as possible. This will take a lot of planning, especially to secure lodging and get support from vendors.

What you can do:
- Read this, taken from Matt's post here (http://www.mazda3club.com/showthread.php?t=41911) .

Right now I'm working on a very large meet. Details are NOT concrete yet. What I'm doing is going to mention some plans I have in an effort to generate interest and buzz. In order for this to be successful several things have to happen.

1. we need a large turn-out of COMMITED people. The past few meets I've tried to put together people don't seem to view as a priority. I'll need at least 150+ owners to gather the support I'll need from sponsors.

2. People will be required to make a small deposit (tentatively $10) in order to sign up. Also, the event will most likely cost a bit more than others I've had. We will be arranging for lodging in hotels so figure a night or two in a decent hotel.

3. There will be a professionaly judged car show with trophies so this is a good time to get exposure if you're seeking it. We'll need nice cars to sign up and actually show up.

4. We will have to reach a much larger Mazda base. This will not be Protege-specific. We need to gather support in the Miata, RX7, RX8, 6, 5, Tribute, MPV groups (if such things exsist). Cars will be arranged based on model as to where they are parked (hence the pre-registration and depost).

5. I'll have to contact key individuals with the desire and ability to help handle specific details of the planning. My last job as a conference coordinator was a lot of fun but a lot of work if you have to do it by yourself.

6. Sponsors will have to be contacted about booth space, advertising, donations, etc. I already have a list of potential sponsors and vendors. I'll contact them as details solidify and work on fee's to help the cost of the event.

The details so far are simple. Middle TN, end of august first of september, friday set-up, saturday event, sunday activites and ending late sunday afternoon. I'd like to arrange a car show and possible speakers. I'm also working on getting vehicles sent out for public view....(MS6, MX5, MS3, RX8, CX7, etc).

What's needed now is to know how many people we can SERIOUSLY commit to this so I can arrange for room/board, parking, event locations, etc. The logistics of this are huge and I need everyone to be honest with me and actually follow through with their commitment if they sign up.

For those of you on other (mazda) forums I ask that you PLEASE copy and past this on there so we can generate the buzz. Once details are concrete I'll be advertising in both RX Tuner and MazdaSport magazines. This should give us a few months of circulation to gain interest.

Right now nothing is set in stone but the date and location or pretty solid. This location is fairly central to everyone and this time of year will provide the best weather for being outside with cars.

i think the next thing you need to do is set the date....that way people can start to plan and we can get the number committment thing out of the way...the deposit thing is good...makes people a bit more committed.

let me know how i can help, mark.

So close to NOPI though...

What is more important? The largest Mazda meeting evAR or a yearly rice thing? (note: I don't know the calibre of these NOPI events as I haven't been to one before).

At one place, you can hang out with all of the people that you talk to every day on the forums, and at the other you can look at a couple dozen dorifto 240SXs?

Last time I checked we are a community and NOPI isn't. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Of course it is your choice, but I sure know where I'll be.

I was speaking in general not just for me. But since you're very uninformed and limit yourself to a cloistered body...

Umm...Yeh, you're right we are a community and so is NOPI. Any car meet or club falls under community (a group of people with common interest).

It's not a matter of what is important or not. I rarely rank any car meet in order of "importance". I put that in my "pleasure" box because its suppose to be an enjoyment. So it's ranked by which I will enjoy the most. Anyway, A LOT of forum members go to NOPI, that's why in the last thread about the Nat'l meet, a few metioned having it at NOPI. Some even go every single year. Don't worry, there WILL be a wide base of the mazda forum community there, at NOPI, IF I felt like talking about the same thing I type and read about almost everyday. Of course there will be "rice" cars there (I'm 110% sure you'll see some "rice" mazdas at the mazda meet too), but the very well put together cars, along with the competitive drag racing, and half naked chicks definitely out weigh the riced out cars by far. NOPI isn't all Civics and Scions, you see hot rods and exotics also. So basically everything you just said, you can do at NOPI and more, while extending your segregated network to more than just mazdas only.

Though, I don't mind looking at 100 handsome guys pointing to BOVs, cracking corny jokes, and gawking over intakes in 100+ stock mazdaspeeds and P5s... I also don't mind seeing seeing 200+ half naked girls dancing on stage, talking to owners of another car make, watching well tuned performance work of "different" brand cars, the contests, and the racing competition. Oh, and the drifting. I happen to like the sport of drifting. You make such a skillful and meticulous sport sound like a terrible thing. To each, his own.

I love the idea of a large mazda meet and I'm all for it, but don't make it sound like a mandatory meeting that every mazda owner must attend or else feel like less of a mazda owner if he/she choose not to come.

Kansei

Sorry.. if you want to go to NOPI then go ahead, no one is forcing anyone to come to this Mazda meet. No one forced you to come into this thread to complain about it being too close to NOPI. Do you think it is at all possible to find a weekend everyone can agree on? Any later and it interferes with all the people in college, any earlier and it'll be too hard to get planned in time and it makes it too close to the big FL meet.

We want this meet to be for dedicated Mazda enthusiasts. MNAO is being contacted, and if we have enough people they may come make a presentation talking about the direction of the company, future design, show off the MS3, etc. Vendors will be there too.

This will not be a "sit in a parking lot and stare at BOVs" meet. There will be a professionally judged car show etc.

Go to NOPI if you want to see girls with their breasts hanging out of their shirts rubbing up against wild cars. Come to the Mazda Festivus if you are committed and dedicated to the Mazda niche.

Edit: p.s. nice 200SX, oh how I wish the FSDE was more like the SR20DE

I just have to put my 2 cents in on this cause acually... im kinda offended.... for your information.... i am NOT a guy BTW... and I know that I am NOT the only girl that is a part of this mazda fourm. Granted i am out numbered by the number of male members and i dont dress like a whore and hang all over cars... point is... your making to much of abig deal over this which bring me to my 2nd qoute from you...

NO ONE said this was a mandatory meet.... nor is anyone forcing you to come to this. My understand is that we are hoping that this will be a meet that beats all other mazda meets and will be talked about for months.. maybe years to come... it called HYPE... look that up if you wish.. the more hype there is the more people are likely to come... the more people... the bigger the meet.... the bigger the meet... the more it gets talked about... the more it gets talked about... the more people with mazdas that might was to join us next time... do you comprehend? ok... good...lets move on...

HERE is MY POINT: if you want to go to this thing in TN... sign up... if you dont... then... well don't...

If you want to go to NOPI.... By all means... GO.... its your time... your money.... do what you wish with it.

If you want to sit at home and wish that you were some where else... well then... fine do that to....

if you want to see half naked gals all over cars and crap like that then go to NOPI cause i am not gona be all over any mazdas but my own and i can tell you now... i wont be half naked... sorry.

I went to NOPI 2 years ago... i had some fun.. i saw what all the hype was about... personaly... if i never go again... it won't lose sleep over it. if by some chance i decied to go again... i still wont lose sleep over it.... it seems to me that there are two types of people.... those that are hard core "NOPI" and those that just want to chill with people that have the same common intrest... Mazdas... you are either one or the other... seems there is no middle ground....

Kansei

Wow Mazda6stoked thanks a lot, do you have my brain bugged?!?

This meet NEEDS to get hyped, this can be huge! NOPI will happen again and again across the country and has for years, a meet for this large of a geographic region for a relatively niche car company will be a first.

Mazda6stoked
03-07-2006, 02:50 PM
i agree!!

NOPI tours many states and holds its nationals in ATL. anyone can go... but its not a big as it could be because it does tour so that people that are in that area and dont want to drive forever can get the chance to go.... its happened EVERY year for how many years now?? we know it will be there next year... and chances are... it will be the same as the year before.

I just had my CME meet in greensboro back in jan. I only expected or so people to show up... last time i did a head count there were 45+ people sitting in HAM's chilling. turns out there was just a lot of hype about the meet that people from MD and GA came out to this. I dont think there will ever been a meet for CME like that again.

I may not be able to go to this... its still up in the air... but... just because i may or may not go does not mean that im going to bitch and complain about it for whatever the reason may be. it's called LIFE and everyone has one....

Mazda6stoked and zverg ftw!!!!!

BUT.... (i'm sorry)... .our club goes to NOPI every single year, as yellowMP5 stated (maybe in another thread). It's not necessarily about the ricers, hot rods drifting, etc. We go b/c it has become a tradition, for us (ipmcsfl- www.ipmcsfl.com *plug* :)). We get all the gang together, drive the 600 some-odd miles and have a good weekend. Not to mention that the fiance loves beating me up whilst I look at hotties in short shorts. There are many different opinions about NOPI (even from this thread). I personally like it b/c of the comraderie of our club actually FRIGGIN DOING SOMETHING!

On one hand, it's tough breaking tradition. But on the other hand, when will we be able to get together like this again?

If I may quote zverg, from a pm:

I'll put a link in my sig to the florida meet too.. and say something about "a summer of zoom"

This is turning out to be "a summer of zoom"!!!!! We are having a big meet in Tampa, FL (see zverg's sig) and this HUGE EASTERN U.S. MEET in Tenn, Sept 1-3rd (see zverg's sig)!!! Will people be able to talk about this for months or years to come? *breath* I don't know. But I do know that they are on top of the ball with the planning.

It is definately a tough decision. It really comes down to your, and only your, preference. Me personally, I'd much rather go to Tenn than NOPI, only because, like people have posted before, it is held every single year. The main reason our club goes is because it is one of the few events that are actually held across the states. If they had NOPI's or HIN's or something along those lines every month down here in South FL, I would never drive to another city, let alone state, for a show. That's the point of all these shows, meets, gatherings, whatever. It is something that has not been done before (or in a long time). That in itself makes it worthy of attending. Not to mention that they (zverg and his planners) are already contacting MazdaUSA and planning "real" awards with a professional show. If they pull it off, yes, it will definately be talked about for a long time. Will they do it again next year? Who knows.

This meet is shaping up to be VERY different from NOPI and the Tampa meet. This is top notch stuff going on, catered directly to mazda enthusiasts. The Tampa meet (even though it's going to be fun!!) is not even in the same ballpark that these guys are talking about (with this eastern meet). The Tampa meet was specifically setup as a layed-back, "chill" meet with a few bonus things to make it more memorable, a "grass-roots" meet, if you will.

NOPI, well, everyone knows NOPI. Yes it's true, there are going to be alot of "ricers" at NOPI. There are going to be a bunch of models barely dressed running to take pictures. There are going to be hot rods and a drifting exhibition and vendors selling things to the honda and nissan and toyota world. There are going to be very few things for the mazda community, as there never are. Last year, at NOPI, we (mazda section) were placed in the way back of the show, and I would say maybe 40 mazda's were actually there.

I think it's awesome that zverg is stepping up for this meet (even if I'm the cause, by pi#$in him off with the hostile takeover of the "nationwide" thread :)). I would LOVE to see people on the west coast step up and have one at Mazda Laguna Seca (sp?) during the summer as well. Mazda would OWN the U.S. this year and it would definately be "The Summer of Zoom".

Anyways, keep up the good work, and if people keep bitching about the timing with NOPI, tell them to re-read this post. I'll see if I can't get the guys down here gung-ho about this, as well.

Kansei
03-07-2006, 06:25 PM
OMG if there was a western U.S. meet at Laguna Seca I would so ship my car there to finally see it in person after driving on it so much in my various (a couple dozen) mazdas in Gran Turismo 4 :) :)

I'm sorta glad the meet ended up being about a month after the Florida meet because that makes it easier for me to go to both of them :)

I'm sure I'd care more about this NOPI business if I had ever gone to one.

While I'm into the whole car modding scene I guess I just care a lot more about Mazda so it doesn't interest me enough.

Thanks so much for your input on this whole thing.... thumbs up to icespeed... you've made some great points....

Im not really one of the planners but I am for my "club", CME. It is extremly hard to get everyone together for a meet and I know this first hand. It doesnt matter if you go or dont go... in the end it will always be your choice. No one is forcing people to break tardition. I personally hate doing so.... but you made a good point about NOPI being every year where is this might be a once in the life time meet for mazda. NOPI isnt even till 2 weeks after this event.... so for those who are extremly gungho about going to NOPI... you can still go. I understand that it may be a drive for some of you all but if it upsets you that much and you really want to go to both... its really not that big of a sacrafice (sp). for example I know that last year... not only did ncdubs.com (VW) go to ocean city md for an event.. a week later they went to tail of the dragon... and this team is based out of greensboro/raleigh, NC. they also went to waterfest the month before which is in NJ. it's just a matter of what is important to you as a team member and your level of enthusisam (sp).

I support both meets.. i just wish that i could go to both... hell i might not even be able to make it to any of them.. but that isnt going to stop me from helping and trying to gather support, nor am i going to discourage people to go because of another event happening in the same time frame. this is life... and there will be PLENTY of other times where you may want to go to one thing but something else is happening at the same time. Its a tuff choice. But if two concerts were playing in the same time frame and u wanted to go to both.. are you going to write to the cordnatiors and tell them that its just not good for you and hope they change the dates... no... you'd pick one or find a way to go to both.

good luck to you and your team icespeed and i hope that you can also gain support and maybe "break" tradition to meet us in TN. Hell I hope you can make it to both and just have one hell of a summer!! I mean thats what this is all about people!! ITS SUMMER!!! lets all have a killer summer!!

I know some people don't want to talk about nopi (there are going to be a shit load of nopi threads later on agan), sorry to bring it up again, but i am with redrims and icespeed. nopi allready brings many people in from all over eastern seaboard. having this meet 2 weeks before splits the audience into two. i would gess most people will say they are either going to the mazda meet or nopi. i don't know what our club will decide, most likely its going to be nopi. nopi is big but it is unknow how big this meet will be, simply because many people change their minds at the last minute. i personally will go to whatever meet we decide on. in either case, we will end in tennessee on the dragon. but why split the possible mazda audience into 2 groups? why not have it the same weekend as nopi. then people don't need to get 2 weekends off of work/school, they just need an extra day for one weekend. if the meed is held during nopi weekend, friday, i guarrantee our club will be there. when holding the meet during nopi weekend, even if a lot of people don't show up to the mazda meet, nothing is lost since there is still nopi to go to.

good stuff but you bring valid points. you said you might not make it, and so might not a lot of other people. so for some of us to drive 15 hours and no one shows up would be murder.

and you saying that you want to go to both just validates what we are saying, have it at the same time.

also, we have been in north carolina and tenessee in 2004 and 2005, both times people in the neighborhood were invited and NO ONE showed up. so maybe you should meet us in TAMPA rather than in TN. (thumb)

and you saying that you want to go to both just validates what we are saying, have it at the same time.

When i said i wanted to go to both i didnt mean nopi and this mazda meet. I ment this meet and the other one that is in FL. I wont go to another NOPI meet any time in the near future unless by some werid way i am forced to go. No offense to NOPI or anyone that likes it... it just wasnt for me. And that may be because I dont understand a lot of things because while i LOVE cars and my car in general... i just dont "speak" car yet...(all these acraynems and whatnot confuse the hell out of me!) Plus... it was just a little over the top for me.... there are alot of other factors that played into it as well...

anyway... the reason why i wouldnt be able to go isn't because of school.... its simply the fact that I am a mother... and i am a manager for a major retail store. labor day weekend isnt a week that I am aloud to just simply ask off for and get it. its a black out weekend for all employees.

having the meet on the same weekend has its good points but also its bad points... you have pointed out some very keep good points but here is the negative:

lets face it.... those who drive 15 plus hours to go to a show that lasts ALL weekend arent going to want to leave the show early to go to ANOTHER show that is an additional 8+ hour drive. I know i wouldnt want to. I much rather stay for its entirety. Haveing it in the same weekend as NOPI is going to divide the people up even more... FORCING people to make that choice. at least if you have it a different weekend you can at least go to both... the scarafice is the fact that you would be doing alot of driving but at least you would be able to stay for both events entirety. its a double edge sword either way you look at. there is something you don't know about nopi. most noone goes to the show on sunday. saturday is the main date. thus, if we hold the mazda meet on friday, people have thursday to drive, saturday to go nopi if they want to and sunday to get home. that's why i said people only need an extra day (thursday) off and not an entire weekend.

but it doesn't matter. just want to get as many people together as possible. i am not going to worry about it too much, to paraphrase what was said, you either care or you don't.

hey...id like to get on the list for this thing

Done.

And for those talking about changing the date or whatever oh well. I want to see all of you there, but if you don't want to come because of it being too close or not close enough to NOPI, that's your choice. Unsuscribe from this thread and put it behind you. Sorry if I sound harsh I've been awake for way too long.

Everyone check the first page of the thread (I think the second post) where I have the signup list. If you aren't on there or if details are incomplete, let me know. I think eventually we might wanna get car model and color from everyone for organizing parking (only if the meet gets REEEALLY huge).. so hopefully.

Ouch where in maine are you (general geographic region, I've been to Maine a few times but don't really know the towns well)?

I thought it was only like 14 or 15 hours from CT, that's harsh.

What did you use for that time estimate? We've found that google maps is definitely messing up the time for Boston, they said it would take 4 hours longer to get there from Boston vs. Springfield so something is definitely screwy.

Yeah it's a long drive. I'd volunteer my place for people to crash but I don't think that would help anyone.. maybe it would help people coming from Toronto or something... but this is a car meet, not a hockey meet, so I don't forsee that.

I wasn't making a big deal. My first post was "It's close to NOPI" and that was it. Nothing more. I said that cause I actually want to make both, but after that post I was then informed, through sarcasm, that true mazda enthusiast don't go to NOPI. It seemed like he was insulted just by the word NOPI. BTW, I was sarcastic and exaggerating in my second post. I didn't mean to offended you. I'm not sorry for what I said, but I truly do apologize if I offended you.

NO ONE said this was a mandatory meet.... nor is anyone forcing you to come to this.

Of course no one is forcing me physically, but it does seem like I was being forced to decided. This was asked...

What is more important? The largest Mazda meeting evAR or a yearly rice thing?

Like I HAD to choose and going to NOPI seemed below him.

And I'm also hoping for the biggest mazda meet EVAR. I didn't know that just saying "It's close to NOPI" would cause such ruckus. If I knew that, I wouldn't have written it. And honestly, I can care less about half naked girls. I don't even like going to strip clubs. I just felt like adding the part about 1/2 naked girls over guys.

And yes. If I choose TN, I'll be there. If I choose NOPI then I'll be at NOPI. If I choose both, I'll be at both. No big deal. I subcribed because I'm interested in coming, but haven't signed up because at this point I'm not sure whether or not I'll be able to make it in the near future. I would hate to sign up and NOT come, but I DEFINITELY do want to take a trip around the dragon.

well redrims... im sorry if i seemed a little on the witchy side.... i can be like that... most people just blow it off :)

i hope that you are able to make both as the both seem really important to you. if not... be sure to make the trip that is most important to you. at this point im am signed up and i hope to go... i too am not sure if i will be able to make it... being as the things i've already stated in past posts.... but if i cant go for whatever the reason i will be sure to let the people in charge know well in advance.

as for tail of the dragon... i too want to make a trip.... if for some reason the both of can't go to this meet... maybe we can plan a trip another time and get a lot of people to go.... its an idea... not sure where it can go... but anyway... good luck with your choice! :)

Oh yeah sorry redrims if I seemed a bit pushy, I didn't mean it like that. Also if you had quoted that entire sentence from me, including the part in parentheses at the end, I indicated that I really don't know much at all about the whole NOPI thing. It just seemed overhyped to me but maybe it's really cool. If there's ever one going on within a couple hours of me I'll probably go just so that I finally know what it is.

Go to whatever meet you want, but it would be great if you could make it to this meet.

Jim

I was thinking about how cool it would be to have a dyno at the event the other day. On the one hand, well it would be nice for people to get to dyno their cars, but on the other hand for people driving 20+ hours to the meet only to have their engine blow up, it'll be a huge inconvenience. So we should also have a bunch of spare FS-DEs laying around :P

If people want to get together and go for a drive, go for it. I'd be up for going for sure.

Didn't read all of this but I gathered this from what I did read....

Nashville Area meet....hahaha..please tell me where in nashville you plan to have this. I live in nashville and let me tell you there isn't shit to do here. If you plan on going to the dragon let me say this...Be prepared to drive 1 1/2 hr-2hrs each way to an from the mountain roads. Plus Nashville does have it's hotels/motels this is true.. but there spread out for the most part and on top of that do you guys realize that nashville is a huge old folks tourist spot, so its always packed and hotels are always booked. Don't get me wrong tenn is a great place for a meet due to its location and location alone, just because a state is centrally located doesn't make it a great place. I'm gonna go ahead and call it....there will be mucho tickets handed out. This place isn't for a bunch of people to be on at one time..and especially guys who want to show off in front of a bunch of fellow car guys. Needless to say I just want the people who have never been there before to realize there's not some holy section of roads that are closed an put there souly for the purpose of track inspired racing...these are public roads that other people drive on daily, so respect and don't expect to have the roads all to yourself's.

Well Steve, if I do attend, I guess I'll just have to give you a lesson... ;) It's not that hard, really. If you're even remotely coordinated, you can drive stick - may not be all that smooth, but you can drive it.

Damn, I really need more money. I really would like to come to this... to bad I couldn't bring the black MS6 that's sitting beside my desk right now. "Can I take the MS6 out a bit? i guess i'm not quite following

NOPI is scheduled (apprently) 8 hours driving away, and 2 weeks later?

WHY would anyone schedule a mazda meet such as this so close to the same time as nopi? seems the only thing it could accomplish is to divide those who would go to both into making a decision of one or the other
would i drive that far to go to a nopi show when (as mentioned) mazdas are pretty much an afterthought to that org.? nope

Kansei
03-22-2006, 11:08 AM
But would making it one week earlier make that much of a difference? For everyone who is bringing up the NOPI thing, how much earlier do you want it to be? The reason for going with an end of August / early September date was so that it was far enough after Mazdasummerpalooza 2006 in FL.

I know the feeling about being addicted. I've done a lot of little mods and cleaning up over the past couple weeks. I keep using the nashville meet as an excuse but it's so far off that I know I'll have to clean up my engine bay again before it comes.

Either way it's awesome because it gives me an excuse to get my car into the best condition it's ever been in. As soon as the fluid gets drained from my ears and the eardrum ruptures heal so I can hear again I'm definitely getting a part time job somewhere around here so that I can get the front end repainted.

I still need to decide if I want to do the 03.5 MSP lip though. I like the way the bottom of it looks a lot, I'm just not a fan of losing my foglights. I need to see the lip up close so that I can figure out how much work would need to be done to hack it up so that it doesn't go into the foglight holes.

Man....it would be tough to lose the foglights. IMO it is such a stand out feature.

Alright people!! Way to hop along the caravan to Tennessee. Going to be awesome to see a lot of you all there. Hopefully we get some more interest from people in FL (thats where Im coming from). But good to see people sporting their Mazdas and willing to drive to all lengths of the country to have a get-together and not just go to local meets or state meets. Keep it up everyone. Spread the word!! *Thumbs up*

Just thought I would put in my 2 cents here. You said the location is fairly central for everyone. How about the west coast. There are alot of Mazda guys and girls out here too, and that is way too far to drive for them. I however am going to be moved to Dallas by then and will hope to be there.
I know it would be extreamly tough to find a place that everyone would be able to make it to. Maybe the west coasters will have to set something up on there own like this.
So I hope I might make it but really not sure. The P5 needs some body work and a few more things before it's ready for anything though.

I have heard of people talking about trying a centralized meet around Oklahoma but to many arguements on both sides to ever get anything done.

Yeah. Originally this meet was named the "Eastern States Mazda Meet".. maybe the name should have stayed that way? (shrugs).

It would be much too difficult to do a true national meet, especially since most people (as most people lives on the coasts) would be looking at a HUGE drive to the meet.

I hope you can make it :)

Sorry to all the other West coast people. It's not that I don't care, it's just that this country is way too large :D

Fly from VA? Hell I bet our caravans will be coming through VA, so if someone doesn't have a passenger I'm sure they'd gladly pick you up.

Flying to a meet.. that's some awesome mazda dedication, I'd give you rep but the system is still broken.

This is a definite. Let me know when you want me to add you to the list.

2003newlyack we should start an upstate NY caravan to it, as I just got a summer/fall co-op job in Rochester so I'll be leaving from here.

Yes there will be food and drinks. What state are you coming from so that I can add you to the list? This is going to have to be at some big place to hold the expected number of cars, but the exact location is still being decided.

argh argh sorry I haven't been keeping up with this thread guys, I feel like I let everyone down. I've just been so busy with starting a full time summer job and now moving out of my apartment into a house so I haven't had time to dedicate to this. I just need to set aside like an hour to sit down and organize all my information and contact some people about what's going on.

Anyone want to volunteer to contact some Miata, RX7, and any other Mazda forums?

hmm now that you mention it, I don't think there is a combined headcount between the forums yet. I'll try to work on that sometime this week, but my internet access is very limited until next monday. I'm connected via a bluetooth GPRS modem out in the middle of nowhere New Hampshire :P

yeah I really hope this is still happening. I'll do what I can but I definitely need help from someone to go around to other mazda forums (miata.net, some rx-7 forums, rx-8 forums, or whatever) to try and get people signed up. I'd do it but I'm stuck in New Hampshire and the only internet access I have is via my cell phone. it's so painfully slow.

^^ hopefully it is still going on. I'm definitely still up for going. I knew I would end up being way too busy with school to really get the ball rolling on this back when I started planning. :'(

I need to get back to real internet access (not cell phone) so that I can get on all the other mazda forums and advertise this. God I'd love to make the FL meet this weekend but I have to go NH - CT, swap my Protege for my Mazda B4000, and then off to NY where I'll spend the week moving with my roommates.

If anyone is registered on any regional Mazda forums (I know many of the regional mazda clubs have their own forums), make a post about this and try and get people signed up. I'll cover as many forums as I can once I get back.

Thanks everyone for bumping this to keep me reminded.

This is sorta hard to say but I think this meet is going to have to be on hold. I've been much busier with work than I ever thought I would be and the date crept up on me so quickly :'(

This really isn't much farther than just having a signup list and a few possible locations. Yeah, I still want it to happen but I just don't know how feasible it is. I don't have the time to dedicate to a meet of this magnitude right now :'(

If anyone wants to take the reins and run with it, please do. I'll still try to come.

I know I feel really terrible about it, but I don't want people to drive 20+ hours to a meet to find out there's only like 20 cars there either. If I had time I would have gotten to other mazda forums to get the word out, but if I did that now they'd probably just laugh.

If you have time to put work into it (instead of pimping your own web site lol) please do :)

I'd still love for this to happen and would go to it, but I haven't even had time to sleep more than 4 hours during any night in the past couple weeks. I don't even have internet access at my new place for a couple weeks (stupid, stupid cable company slowness.. they don't need to install it, just activate our line).
