This Saturday I was driving home under normal conditions and my BOV started a Really Long Turkey sound. Longer than when it was stock. I have a HIBoost FMIC and the HKS BOV venting to open atmosphere. The car seems to be running fine but this is confusing me. And yes I am running stock boost. Any Ideas?

if car runs fine, it's normal. It makes a long turkey flutter but when you run it hard it's all BOV right?

i have the hiboost fmic kit but with the greddy rs bov. when i vented to atmosphere at lower boost it was mostly turkey. when i vented at higher boost it was all pshhhhhh. i decided to run the dual bpv/bov setup and it is running great! either move the maf or run a dual setup.

Hey I have the relocated MAF, it was running fine all pshhhh for weeks then yesterday just started this again. so even if i get a new BOV it won' tfix it huh?

OK so I just got my buddy from Mazda on the phone finally. He said it was just the BOV and to replace it. So I guess thats what I will do unless someone hase a better sugestion.

question regarding turkey, you get that when you put on a CAI correct? anything else needed to produce that sound?

The turkey is always there. Stock bpv, aftermarket bov, it's always there.

It's just how loud or low it is.

The answer to ur problem isnt to rush out and buy another BOV. The turkey will still be there.

the turkey is created when you have too much air in the pipes and instead of the air leaving through your intake it goes the other way and hits the fans of your turbo. well.......im not the best of explaining it but thats the general idea.

about your problem..........i experienced the same thing. my BOV (greddy S) worked great and then one day BAM! All turkey and hardly any BOV. The problem with me was that my hose for the back pressure of my BOV had been pinched on the tip of the BOV and cracked. so i was getting air leakage and not proper back pressure. check your hoses. leave your car on and move the hose all around and listen for a hiss. thats how i found it.

Like MP3architect said, check the line to your BOV. Also, though I don't see how this would happen on its' own, but how tight you have your BOV set will make it not open as easily, thus leading to more turkey.

maybe you have to screw trying to make the BOV real loud. adjust it lower or higher but i dont remember which way is which lol

Well screwing in would make it tighter (that's how it is on the Type-S, I really don't see it being different on other BOVs)

Mine is pretty loose now, only thing I don't like is it whistles for a little bit after RPMs drop to idle speed, but if I do it any tighter there is too much turkey.

if it's loose it's leaking, you need to tighten it up

yea, only whistle i hear when i start the car is from the turbo. I do on occasion hear it whistle while coasting letting the RPM's drop but it's a quiet whistle that you'd have to kno was there, you wouldnt just hear it.

no with the greddy s i hear a very loud constant wistle. like a kid just wistling as loud as he can with his lips a constant tone. i have a dumped exhaust too so im sure if i connected my greddy exhaust it would sound even louder

your right, i used to have the type S and i rememebr alot of whistling.

It's a BOV that likes to leak. But when starting the car i dont remember it whistling.

I can ear it with my stock intake and drop in filter. It is always there. With CAI is louder.

Wow you guys rock....

Thats a good idea, I will look at the hoses and see if they look odd. I was wondering about why it would have happened so suddenly I will check that in a couple of hours and let you guys know.
