hey i'm trying to find the thread where people have put leds in their cupholders. i was wondering if there was a how-to written because i couldn't remember. thanks!

i just ran wires to the radio power and ground so they came on with the car. it took about 15 minutes and $4 worth of LEDs from radio shack. i drilled a hole into the bottom of each cupholder and hid the wires back there.

I think on a protege I'd put them near the bottom but on the sides of the cupholder, specifically the side closer to the shifter so that you can't actually see the LEDs, you just see the indirect light from them.
mountjonas I like the look of yours, did you do it with the LEd in the bottom?
I was getting ready to dump some gasoline on this thread when I saw the title ... but that actualy looks really cool - if you spent any time in my cars, you would think that Arrowhead water bottles were a factory option. :)

yup, right on the bottom, although i did think of putting them on the side near the bottom, kinda like you said.

how do you get the led's to stay in the hole you drilled and keep them flush?

i did it in my car too, and to keep em from pushing back through i used some jb weld. That stuff holds better then any glue out there. I applied some from the bottom side and once it hardened those things arent going anywhere. (thumb)

the ones i bought from radio shack had a trim around it that kept them centered in the holes.

i think they came in green also. they carry plain led's and led holders seperately, so you should be able to mix and match.
