We've had a few people with moderate modifications, namely fmic and turbo back exhausts, that have had partial throttle issues after custom tuning. The issues is more than likely caused by the esc feature. This feature is used to adjust fuel at partial throttle...If you are experiencing issues under partial throttle after customizing a map please take a look at this. however this IS NOT applicable to the stock map as we've already adjusted the map for this feature to work properly. This seems to be an isolated problem (out of the 96 AFCs out there we've had 2 reports) only affecting a few heavily modded cars, so for most of you, you shouldn't ever have to worry about this. If you have not experienced this problem, you probably will not, and I would suggest not messing with it as it was designed to combat the msp ecu stutter issues. For those of you with questions feel free to send me and email.

Ok, I have this exact problem. I am pretty much what you would call highly modified as well. What can be done about this? Can we turn the esc feature off? I honestly thought I just couldn't figure out how to tune good for part throttle. I've got my wot tune down pretty nicely now, my part throttle sucks though. And thanks for the support.

gboro, we actually just became aware of this issue, so we're currently working on a fix for it...give me a week or so and if you don't hear anything, harrass me about it.

Awesome support.

No doubt. Even thought I have another motor coming, I'm still getting the AFC from him to use on my current setup. It should help me get my feet wet with learning to tune something that doesn't use jets, squirters, power valves and a mechanical advance.

Any chance you'll wind up selling and supporting other EMS systems, Convert?

Sounds good man, let me know what you are able to come up with. I would have said something sooner, I thought it was just my tuning ability at part throttle, or lack thereof.

That sounds like the same problem i am having. It's a little weird on my part. like right when i get into boost it leans out a little to prob 15-16 then hits a good a/f(i'm hitting around 12's) at WOT on my wbo2. i'm not even aware what the esc feature is. where is it on the R4 software?

My mods are:
Wagner FMIC with SRI
greddy type rs(recirculating)
MAM midpipe catless
JIC catback(removed resonator)
Greddy profec b @ 10psi
Innovate xd-1/lc-1 wbo2
WRX 440cc's
Walbro 255 Fuel pump
F&R AWR mm's
and splitsecond afc (of course)

We're actually looking into producing a full stand alone system....just trying to find time to do it! the ESC feature is on the dropdown menu on the r4 software.

i guess mine does not have an ESC feature. can't find it under any of the menus.

i will also notice this problem i am having with the unit. it seems like if i'm riding my car around for awhile, it seems like when i'm feathering the gas when i'm entering boost, i will get really rich afr's at around 9's and it would bog down sometimes. it almost seems like i dont get enough spark or something. but if i go WOT i will just get a little bump of rich afr's then it will hit optimal afr's.

I just looked through the software and I can't find the esc feature either. Let us know what you come up with dsmconvert.
