I think that one of my struts are going out...whenever I am driving and hit the smallest bump and then hit it with my rear drivers side wheel it makes a clicking sound...like metal on metal. I am assuming it is a strut problem, being that I am on 84k with stock struts...Do I assume correctly?

sounds like it could be struts. before you spend the money to replace them though, check and make sure its not the endlinks and/or sway bar.

^^^ what he said!

check the nuts on the endlinks. If they will get loose, sway bar is gonna start clunking. I had same shit when I lowered my car....nuts weren't tightened all the way.

I will check that right now...

I can't find anything loose, but i can just assume its the strut because I have 84,000 hard driven miles on the stock struts. Well, time to upgrade!

just a reminder....we dont have struts in the back. We have shocks. Struts were designed specifically for FWD cars, therefore front=struts, rear=shocks. Thats why springs in the back are smaller/narrower than in the front

Just a thought. Might not be the struts. I have 125k on my Nissan Maxima and it still has stock struts/shocks. But if you really wanna check. Take the shocks off and disasemble the assembly. Meaning, separate the springs from shocks. Then, try to compress the shocks. After you do that, if the shocks don't expand, then they are obviously shot. If indeed the shocks are completely dead, then it would definetly explain why they clunk, because they don't rebound.

Also best way to check if the endlinks are tight, you have to lift both sides of the car in the back. That way there is no stress on neither of the shocks and sway bar. That way you can easily tighten/untighten the nuts and bolts.

Thanks for the great info! When I get time i will have to check it out. Thanks again
