What differences can you spot between the Euro and NA Spec MS3? ;)

What differences can you spot between the Euro and NA Spec MS3.

1) The raised rear spoiler on the NA spec
2) The rear side-makers appear on the NA spec
3) Lack of rear fog light on the NA spec
4) The badges
5) No "keyhole" (or whatever that is) on the trunk of the NA spec

does the rear bumper seem longer on the NA-spec? Like on the P5s.

LOVE the new spoiler...exactly what the ms3 needed IMO. BUT NO SUNROOF?!! Come on mazda! This was going to be the absolute perfect car for me (for now at least). Oh well...at least I'll have navi. I am interested in the "upgraded materials" and the "mp3 player jack." Is it just me or do the US spec pics appear to have less wheel gap then the Euro/Jap spec? Also, this early mazdausa post is a good sign that we may be seeing it on this side of the Atlantic sooner rather then later.

yeah, to me it looks lower than some of the euro spec pics, and about the same as some of the others. It looks pretty good height wise in this pic though, i hope it stays that way, or maybe even a skootch lower.

Don't judge the photos for wheel gap...trust me. Just look at almost all print/tv/multimedia automotive marketing and you will see cars with a more pronounced "lowered" stance. Darkened windows is another.

Look on the bright side, the hatch now has a hood without the grille attached to it, so maybe someone here will eventually figure out how to swap the engine and the hood etc.

they really did alot of things to this car besides interior and exterior. Its a really badass setup, everytime i read and look at it i fuckin want one.

I wonder how that spoiler looks from the side. The current spoiler on the 3 hatch already doesn't line up properly with the lines and curves of the car, I can envision that spoiler being even worse. Overall I like what they've done, they've made an otherwise unbearable 3 hatchback look dare I say it -- muscular. I think that's why they went with the hatch, the sedan is too sleek. The hatch already had the bulgy fenders and hood.

They fixed it up a lot though, the front end of the normal hatchback scream PT Cruiser to me, it was all about the grille being taller than the headlights. Damnit and I'm going to be in the market for a car soon too :P

I don't like the normal 3 hatch spoiler, either. Completely useless. I even took mine off.

One thing I can say for the MPS one, it may actually help keep the back window clear.

it may actually help keep the back window clear.

The MPS one might help keep it clear? It doesn't look too different in design than the P5 one and ugh the P5 rear is always dirty after a mile or so of driving, especially with the salty streets. In the rain I doubt I could get the car out of the garage without covering the back of the car in mud :P

How is the MPS one different than the stock 3 spoiler other than the inclusion of the LED brake light strip like in the P5.

One last question: Is it better or worse going from the 3 spoiler to no spoiler?

goldwing2000

Because the stock 3 one doesn't have any space under it. It's like a backwards baseball cap. I figure if there's an air gap, theoretically it could re-direct the air flow across the window and keep it clear. It's all theory, though. I haven't seen a functional spoiler on any FWD car, so there's no reason to think they'll start now.

One last question: Is it better or worse going from the 3 spoiler to no spoiler?

Better or worse, how?
Looks? Better, in my opinion.
Window cleanliness? Better, also. Easier to clean, too.

Kansei

I didn't think the MPS one looked like it had an air gap, I guess I didn't look closely enough.

It doesn't matter what wheels they picked...people will pawn them off on other Mazda owners and upgrade. I bet they'll look nicer on the P5.

(thinks about that for a second)

If it comes to the states in a timely fashion I'll give my P5 to my fiance and trade in her Corolla for MS3. Then I'll put the MS3 rims on the P5 and take my new RX-8 rims and put them on the MS3. That'll look nice.

With over 250 horsepower, the MAZDASPEED3 redefines the meaning of speed. Its high-performance MZR 2.3-liter DISI Turbo engine, six-speed transmission, and razor-sharp handling turn it into a beast on the road. And with muscular, flared front fenders, floating fog lamps, aerodynamically powerful edges, and flush black interior it looks wild, too. Red stitching accents the seating, steering wheel, and shift knob for a swift, sporty refinement. And the 18”, 10-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, roof spoiler, and big, boisterous tailpipe keep the style flowing all the way to the rear end. But while other sports cars stop at “sports,” the MAZDASPEED3 features some remarkable assets. An upgraded brake system makes for alert and active safety. And for the tightest handing and responsiveness during hard cornering, Mazda provides the combined power of an enhanced suspension, the smart Mazda Advance Impact-energy Distribution and Absorption System, powerful four-wheel ABS, and a newly developed torque-reduction system with limited slip differential. Well engineered and beautifully designed, Mazda’s nimble MAZDASPEED3 is one of the fastest sports compacts with an FWD layout on the market.

Yeah, that was more of a (stfu) for that goofball dealer you talked to.

Anyway, it looks like they're labeling it as a 2007 model so I'd look for a release date some time this fall. Although Mazda Canada says "Set to arrive at Canadian dealerships this summer... " (dunno)
