I have a 2004 6s and i did the airbox mod about 6 months ago. I felt a difference in the power and i had taken off the tube part so it was more like a SRI. But then i found the tube part again sitting around and so i decided to play around with it and i cut off the piece that locks it back into the airbox and turned it upside down. It fits snug enough and so i took it for a test drive and i felt an increase of power throughout the whole rpm range and especially in the higher rpms. The sound is also a little louder which is sweet, but my question is... is it safe? Now it is like a CAI because it sucks air up from under the car. thats all. just wanted to know if it was safe. cool.

Try this for shits and giggles. Go underneath the car, and go through the bottom splashguard and remove the resonator that's attached to the bottom of the airbox. Duct tape the openings for the tuba and the VAD flapper. Then you'll be drawing air from the space in front of the wheel well.
Here's the airbox+resonator assembly:

I wouldn't be worried about puddles, unless it's a deep one. Like two feet deep.
