Hey guys,
I orginially posted a problem with a CEL. That was supposed to be resolved this week by service as they replaced an air valve and the throttle body...ah yes but as fate would have it the plot thickens. They told me the car would be ready thursday and I never got a call from them. I ended up callling them thursday afternoon around 4. They told me that they had replaced the faulty parts, however the car has an idling problem when it's in gear. So I say, "okay well when will it be fixed?" They said, "we don't exactly what is causing the problem, we have to bring in a special technician." So i'm sitting here wondering what is up with this. Does it really take a week to solve these problems? And what happens if they can't fix the problem? U guys have any insight on this situation? The car only has 24.5K miles on it with no aftermarket mods except a drop in K&N.

If you don't know what the trouble code is, it's hard to determine what's wrong with it. Just pray that they know what they are doing.
I had a broken mid pipe and it took them 2 months to order the right part. Some of them just don't know what they are doing. Keep calling them and have them update the status for you. And don't be afraid to change your service advisor. I did that and the second service advisor was very helpful. He even call me back after I picked up my car and make sure everything is fine.
Try to get the trouble code if you can, some of the members might be able to look up the service bulletin for you.

try and take it to another dealer and see if they are as stupid. Usually there are a few tech's who know nothing about certain cars.

Just out of curiosity, is the dealership that you took your car to MazdaSpeed certified? I was checking online to see if mine was, and noticed that not all of the GA Mazda dealerships were...

Man, I dont even know where to begin. The issues here could be limitless. Anything from a bad wire on the IAC, bad PCM, Bad IAC, bad TPS, bad maf, ect ect. Without knowing your code AND being able to look at a WDS or Scantool data stream or freezeframe, No one will be able to diag that bro. Sorry.

Tell the tech to check for a loose turbo manifold bolt, cracked manifold, cracked vacuum lines, broken fitting on the hot side intercooler plastic pipe. These are common problems most people overlook.

Hey
Well finally got the car back today...over a week since I dropped it off. I walked into the service dept. and they gave me a service sheet with about three paragraphs worth of stuff that was fixed on the car...all under warranty thank god...
So let's start with what they first replaced. Throttle Body and Air Valve which they thought would solve the CEL. Nope didn't work and they realized that car was idling irratically in gear. So they brought in a special technican and by the way this WAS a MAZDASPEED SERIVICE DEPT. They went through about five steps before the problem was solved. This included fixing gaskets and even part of the clutch which they thought would help. Still nothing, so they start looking for leaks with hoses and whatnot. Still nothing, then they finally realize that it's the wastegate that's causing the problem. So they replaced that and I have to say that the car runs a million times better on the road now, even better since the first day I picked the car up. The thing that pissed me off the most is the fact that they busted my head unit. Once I got into my car today I realized that it wasn't working at all. No sound, no light, not nothing. So again I'm going to have to bring the car back to get that fixed next week...wtf! But hopefully my damn CEL will stay off and the car will run as well as it does now for a ver very long time. Thanks for your help guys!!!
